Re: 2006 fx ho rev limit?

    air filter pics 520797, 520798

I don't see any oil ... so I think that's a good sign. Also checked compression while I was in there, 180,180,179,190. Checking oil level and installing new plugs...

Re: 2006 fx ho rev limit?

Thinking they may have overfilled. Planning on...

Kinda odd, did water test on (new to me) '06 fx ho couple days ago on freshwater, gps'd out 58mph, all good. Trailered home, salt water bay, first time out seems like rev limited to around 4500rpm,...

    Re: blown wv 701

The piston slap, would that be caused from one of the rod needle bearings on the crank end being destroyed? or general wear/scarring of the cylinder?

pics of the crank end seal areas, seals...

    Re: blown wv 701

On the crank seals, where the leak likely was, for future reference, how often do they go bad? I realize now a crankcase pressure test will reveal these leaks. What's typical life of crankcase seals...

    Re: blown wv 701

By splash guard do you mean the the black plastic guard that sits over the pto coupler? In my case I think I had leaking crank seals. Engine compartment had water in a couple times as well, I'm...

    Re: blown wv 701

Thanks to all for thoughts. Don't know about the seizing many times, had been running fine in yard a couple times, both cylinders sounding fine. So far I'd agree with JC Superjet, bearing failure...

    Re: blown wv 701

Thanks. the pto rod is loose and has some play at the crank compared to the mag rod, maybe one or more bearings came out. I can still see most (all?) needle bearings on the crank end of the pto rod...

    Re: blown wv 701

Hmmm ... seems to fit. Engine compartment had been flooded before, once when exhaust hose blew.

How often should crank seals be replaced on 701's? Engine has to be pulled out to do those?
