Re: New Project, JS Conversion freeride ski

Gotta use the blue stuff...the stuff solar covers for swimming pools are made from, cuz the UV resistance additive makes them blue.

But almost seriously, I have some 1/4" thick UHMW left from my...

    Re: smallest jetski (freestyle) hull

Just get a JS hull and a Rhaas kit to drop in the motor...and the 140 pump kit too, but you're not going to wind up with something well suited for beginners. Not really sure what you're aiming for...
  5. Re: Super jet aftermarket Start/stop switch

Or just rewire the switch you have.
What do you have to lose?
    Way less than $400.
Get some silconized shrink tube, some wire, and have at it. Just cut near both ends and graft in new wire.
  6. Re: 4th Annual Jet Ski Swap Meet, October 1st, 2022

    19 days to go.
It's worth the drive...but I'd suggest showing up early, between 10am-noon, for the best selection. The best deals go quick. I've never seen a b-pipe last past noon :)

Re: Rock You Like A Hurricane..........Apex

    Quick update.
Blowsion OVP steering system spit out the large oring, and it needed a rebuild anyway, so now that's been done.

Started pulling some stuff off my open vintage race SN lately, and it...
  8. Re: 4th Annual Jet Ski Swap Meet, October 1st, 2022

    LOL.
I'm already getting emails off the craigslist ads asking for stuff.
I'm realistic, but that doesn't stop me from trying :)
You need to just plan a weekend trip. Come ride the Fox River...
  9. Re: 4th Annual Jet Ski Swap Meet, October 1st, 2022

I'm about 51% done with getting my stuff set up for the swap meet already. Too much other crap going on the rest of this month for me to wait until the weekend before like I normally do.

Re: Rock You Like A Hurricane..........Apex

Swapped out the old repitched (14/18) Solas I prop I started with for a nearly new Solas 13/17 Concord this morning & got a tank through it today. Bottom end and midrange hit are significantly...

Re: Back Flushing Your Motor Made Easy

I was recently running a section of the lower Wisconsin River, where sand is plentiful, lol, and I decided I'd be best off to take a few minutes and back flush any sand that may have found a new home...
  12. Re: Troubleshooting your fuel system is crazy easy and simple and cheap to do

I go through a tube about every 2 years, and I've used Hondabond 4 interchangeably with Yamabond 4 many years ago...always assumed whatever they were was the same stuff just in different packages. ...

  14. 4th Annual Jet Ski Swap Meet, October 1st, 2022

I decided to start a new thread for this year.

    Mark your calendars. As usual,...
  15. Re: Troubleshooting your fuel system is crazy easy and simple and cheap to do

Wasn't aware that the formulation had changed.

    Fun times :)
  16. Re: Troubleshooting your fuel system is crazy easy and simple and cheap to do

Note to self: Always test your fuel system sooner than later.
  17. Re: Troubleshooting your fuel system is crazy easy and simple and cheap to do

So instead of doing a fuel system test at this point, I wasted time going through the electrical system. Now, I was motivated somewhat to do this anyhow, as I had an aluminum charging Riva flywheel...
  18. Re: Troubleshooting your fuel system is crazy easy and simple and cheap to do

So, I've been riding nothing but my Apex this season.
Enjoying it a ton, and tuning as I go.
Had a hiccup along the way, with carb diaphragms leaking through the center...and it's been generally a...
  19. Re: Troubleshooting your fuel system is crazy easy and simple and cheap to do

    Fun story, of self-inflicted struggle.

Picture here shows my Hurricane Apex.
    Incredibly simple fuel system.

Running a single pickup 1/8" off the...

    Re: Dirtbike sounding pipe

The PSI pipe used on this 95 SN sounds the closest to any dirt bike pipe of any SJ pipe I've heard.

  21. Re: Addendum to the Mikuni SBN Tuning Manual

Also, check/measure/visibly inspect your pop off actuator arm height (and overall condition), and to be sure you can check pop off with the diaphragm and cover installed...if you don't already. ...
  22. Re: Addendum to the Mikuni SBN Tuning Manual

I've never added an extra check valve personally. Just haven't gotten to the point of needing to, I guess. I've always had success with a stiffer spring and smoothing the idle.
  23. Re: Troubleshooting your fuel system is crazy easy and simple and cheap to do

Yup, forgetting stuff is fun, especially when you google the sh1t you forgot, and the answer you get is from an ahole you know all too well, cuz it's you :)
  24. Re: Troubleshooting your fuel system is crazy easy and simple and cheap to do

    Fun story:
The same people who rip on me for typing too many words, or for not bowing to their "excellence" as their minions do, secretly read all my sh1t when their stuff is broken or when they...
  25. Re: Luckiest Guy riding a waveventure 700 , oil lines

  26. Re: Addendum to the Mikuni SBN Tuning Manual

I have some modded blasters (3, I think) and another RN SJ, and possibly a modded FX1 (maybe 2 of them)...coming in for tuning over the next 1-2 months, so I will probably document those as well.
  27. Re: Addendum to the Mikuni SBN Tuning Manual

    2016 RN update:

    My actual notes:
Currently jetted as 135 mains and 67.5 pilots. Low adjusters at 1.25, highs at 5/8. Was originally jetted at 140 mains, 75 pilots, and was gargly everywhere,...
  28. Re: BJP Prize Ski for Jet Blast 2023 - Yamaha RN Superjet

Those are the gas tank pads.
I probably have the waterbox pad in one of the boxes at my place.
  29. Re: BJP Prize Ski for Jet Blast 2023 - Yamaha RN Superjet

Don't throw away the waterbox Underpadding.
The RN waterbox Underpadding is actually very good.
It's the SN waterbox padding that is a glued in hope and a prayer failure, and why I made my...
  30. This is the jet ski everyone should ride and here's why...

    Made you click, lol.

I know exactly what model jet ski everyone should ride, and I know why.

    Ready for it?
Everyone should ride exactly whatever ski they enjoy and can afford.
    That's it....
  31. Re: Troubleshooting your fuel system is crazy easy and simple and cheap to do

Thanks for saying so, and you're welcome.
  32. Re: Addendum to the Mikuni SBN Tuning Manual

So this 2016 RN is a good example of using the low adjusters...and notes...and careful consideration.

    Started with:
    140 mains
    75 pilots
Had a gargle under acceleration that turning in both...

Re: 94 superjet head temp sensor

Unplugging the pink wire from the sensor, inside the ebox, disables the sensor's ability to trigger limp mode.

If you still go into limp mode after that, the sensor isn't the root issue.
  34. Re: Addendum to the Mikuni SBN Tuning Manual

Spent time on/with the 2016 RN today.
701, girdled head, b-pipe, 38s with aftermarket FAs.
First issue I noticed was the aftermarket t-handle adjusters, 2 of them, were not able to bottom out due...

  37. Re: Addendum to the Mikuni SBN Tuning Manual

With pop off, my primary concerns (in order of concern) are:
Will it pass a pop off test without leaking?
Does it remain closed (not dribble) at idle?
Am I getting the pop off number I am aiming...
  38. Re: Addendum to the Mikuni SBN Tuning Manual

As the SBN manual states, the 1.5 is all the SBN can pump anyhow.

I've had a few situations where the 65gm spring isn't stiff enough to stop a dribble at idle, so then I've swapped to the next...

Re: Rock You Like A Hurricane..........Apex

Re: Rock You Like A Hurricane..........Apex

Snapped the steering cable on the Apex this weekend.
That's always fun, but it is an easy ski to ride by kneeling on the tops of the side rails and leaning to turn, so getting home was easy.

    Good...
  44. Re: Addendum to the Mikuni SBN Tuning Manual

  45. Re: Addendum to the Mikuni SBN Tuning Manual

The RN I finished tuning yesterday got picked up last night, and I'm expecting a ride report from the owner after he rides it today.

And now I have a modded 2016 RN in its place to evaluate and...
