    Re: VXR Pro wiring help

If your compression tester is fouled with oil/fuel, or the shrader valve in it is shot, your tests won't be accurate.

It would be good if you had spark checkers to see if the spark you're getting...

Re: Just another silly Squarenose re-do

Plan next is to inspect the reeds.
Throttle response isn't as snappy as I'd like, and it's behaving a bit like the reeds are less than healthy.

But I've been a bit tied up lately here in SE...

So neither of us are "special".
    Whew.
    ;)
  4. Re: 1991 Yamaha Waverunner III 650 troubles…

Now that I think of it, I also experienced a clogged/broken waterbox on a WR3 I was rehabbing a few years back. It had been put away for winter by the p.o. with a waterbox that was full of water,...
  5. Re: 1991 Yamaha Waverunner III 650 troubles…

Yes, I hate people too, but keeping some of them around is a necessary evil.
  6. Re: 1991 Yamaha Waverunner III 650 troubles…

You know fukkbookk is waaaaay worse.
    Count your blessings.
  7. Re: 1991 Yamaha Waverunner III 650 troubles…

    I've disassembled about 70 WR3s, but I'm not even 100%.
But I am sure the it's WAY easier with the oil tank removed.
Otherwise I would bet the carb has to be removed...maybe...lol.
  8. Re: 1991 Yamaha Waverunner III 650 troubles…

Terry is just old and crankier than me, but I will catch up soon enough.
  9. Re: 1991 Yamaha Waverunner III 650 troubles…

I have a good WR3 OEM waterbox available from a recently parted and running WR3, if needed...
  10. Re: 1991 Yamaha Waverunner III 650 troubles…

Disconnect the oil injection and try premix.
  11. Re: Jetting recommendations for 760 blaster

My vintage race SN ran a set of jetworks ported 61x cases with a riva (copied) ported 61x cylinder, and dual 44 red tops with a slanted intake manifold for which I can't recall the brand right...

Re: Just another silly Squarenose re-do

Well, she now goes vroom vroom.
Time for some final odds & ends, and some trailer tuning.
Way too cold in Wisconsin to ride at this point...at least I'm certainly not motivated to ride at this...

    Re: VXR Pro wiring help

Not a VXR pro. That makes sense.

The two small wires attached to the relay are the signal wires, normally one is black and one is brown.
One (black) is connected to ground, and the other (brown)...

    Re: VXR Pro wiring help

The last 2 digits on the HIN tag will tell you what model year it is.

Probably 10% of the 90s skis I buy are listed as the wrong year. Sellers don't know what they are selling.

    You need to...

Re: Just another silly Squarenose re-do

The nosepiece install trick is crazy simple and cheap.
    100% pure silicone sealant.
Run the beads as shown in the pictures.
Also put a glob on both screws.

I've experimented a bit with where to...

Clean up prior to nose piece install.

Fun story. 1996, did a drop sub in the center of the lake where I live. Nosepiece peeled back, snapped off, and I felt it hit me in the head...and then I...

    Bumper repaired and installed.
Tear is still visible, but it is closed. You can pull and push on it all you want = stays closed.
Always glad to save another SN bumper...

Re: Just another silly Squarenose re-do

    Fun lessons.
    1) Don't throw away all your leaky bicycle inner tubes.
    2) When you see a cheap basket of spring clamps at the hardware store, buy it :)

    More front bumper tricks.
When the 2 front bumper nubs are torn off, just drill holes where they were. Make the holes just large enough to slide in some thin wall bushings that are just a tad longer...

So far so good. The patch stuck perfectly.
The next step is to make much larger patch out of bicycle inner tube rubber to overlap this thicker patch and keep it all locked down to the inside of...

Re: Just another silly Squarenose re-do

The tear in the front bumper is in a spot where the bumper doesn't lay flat on the hull. This means there is room to apply a "patch" to the underside. I made a quick pattern out of paper. Traced...

    Re: VXR Pro wiring help

Looking at the model listing on the OEM parts finder, I don't see a pro model VXR for 95, and the standard 95 VXR has no MFD, but the 94 pro does. I've parted out 80-90 VXRs but never bothered to...

I'm guessing the MFD died and that relay was some kind of who knows what...instead of just leaving the MFD unplugged????
