    Re: Project FX1 for 2022

    Tubbie install secrets.

I probably should have taken more pictures today, so I could fully explain all the secrets to doing these installs properly and efficiently, but the truth is I was too busy...

    Re: Project FX1 for 2022

    All set :)

    A few comments.

Blowsion lists these Destroyers as for the 08+ SJ and the FX1 hulls.
Clearly, they were designed for the 08+ SJ. If I had to bet, after designing and making them,...

    Front is empty.
    Handlepole and bracket removed.
Plan is to pull the exhaust and get the Destroyer tubbies shaped to fit and installed by the end of the weekend, hopefully.

    Tear down begins.

No check valve on the tank vent line.
The ooze that drained from the water separator was therefore interesting.

    Re: Project FX1 for 2022

Looking closer, these 08+ SJ destroyers can be made to fit...with some grinding on the upper lip so they fit up into the fx1 bond flange, and they will need to be flexed a bit.

    Hmmm, 08+ SJ Deystroyer tubbies.
Pretty sure I said to buy the PW tubbies.
These are nowhere close to fitting the flat sides of the FX1 hull...unless I'm missing a special trick.

    Project FX1 for 2022

Winter project #2 complete and on to #3.

I'd have to go back to my own thread to tell you where it wound up, but normally 2mm is my goal. On rare occasions I've been out as far as 3mm or as tight as 1.5mm, without issues, but I'd say 1.5mm...

  35. Re: The 08 SJ "not actually a raffle ski" Build Thread

This isn't perfect, but much better than it was.
    Process was simple.

  36. Re: The 08 SJ "not actually a raffle ski" Build Thread

This is how much material needs to be cut out of a WR3 hood gasket to fit the gasket to a RN.
Will post some completed install pictures shortly.

Stop throwing WR3 hood gaskets in the trash, lol. ...
  37. Re: The 08 SJ "not actually a raffle ski" Build Thread

  41. Re: The 08 SJ "not actually a raffle ski" Build Thread

    .....and she goes vroom vroom!!
    A few issues left:
    Primer leaks like crazy.
    Hood gasket is crap.
    Bilge switch is finicky.

Also need to re-stick some loose turf.

    But she sounds brappy. ...
  42. Re: The 08 SJ "not actually a raffle ski" Build Thread

I hate this part....running the fuel lines & other final tedious stuff. Never goes quick, and the anticipation of wanting to hear the ski go vroom vroom just adds to the "fun".

  43. Re: The 08 SJ "not actually a raffle ski" Build Thread

  44. Re: The 08 SJ "not actually a raffle ski" Build Thread

The tank vent check valve was also stuck and not flowing in either direction...which only makes it even harder/impossible for the fuel pumps to feed the carbs, which had strainers that were clogged...
  45. Re: The 08 SJ "not actually a raffle ski" Build Thread
