NEW product: SURF SEAL - Superjet/Blaster hood seal

Hey all, I have a new style hood seal that I think is probably one of the best seals you will ever find. This is an idea that I had a few years ago and I am finally able to offer it to everyone. I have been running this hood seal for the last 2 years on 2 of my personal skis. I ride in the ocean here in Southern Ca and I have never once had an issue while using this seal. I call it the SURF SEAL.

I have compared it to other hood seals out there and the thing that I think you will like most about this one is that it does NOT use any type of glue or adhesive of any kind to keep it in place. So you will never have to worry about it coming loose or having to re seal it later down the road.

Also... This hood seal does not mount to the hull, but rather the underside of the hood. It presses on to the thin lip all the way around the hood. (see pics below)

    It's super easy to install!

The Superjet hood seal is 100" long. It is not one continuous piece so there is one spot where there is a break. If you are wondering if this becomes an issue where water will leak in, it is not! You can throw a dap of silicon on it where the two ends meet, but it is not necessary. It will seal just fine. This is how I have run mine for the last 2 years.

-An OEM hood seal is $135
-Hydroturf sells one for $16 but it requires glue which is an additional $5-$9 so now it becomes at least $21
    -Watcon sells theres for $27

and all of these are PLUS SHIPPING AND HANDLING.

I'm offering mine for $30.00 - shipped to your door! (cont US)

I also have them available for Yamaha Blaster for $36.00 - shipped to your door! (cont US)

Please take a look at it and feel free to ask any and all questions and I will be glad to answer them all. I will also be offering a few more goodies in the weeks to follow that I think you guys will like. The goal for me is to offer products that not only WORK, but that are reasonably priced. I think $30 is very reasonable and I think that once you try it, you will agree.

Taking orders now and they will be available to start shipping out this coming week.
PM for paypal info and any questions you might have.

    Thanx-

(Just wanted to introduce it, but I guess I should repost in the classifieds section?????)

Looks like a cool idea. So what goes on the hull side? Nothing? Not 100% clear from your pictures though, do you have a pic showing the cross section of the seal?

going to try and glue in an OEM seal, if unsuccessful this may be an alternative, would like to see and understand more.

as requested, more pics, not on the hood, anything on hull side? etc etc.

I like this idea! Post a pic of the hood installed on the hull... I'm curious how much you can see the outer edge of the seal on the hood.

I think this is the best idea for a hood seal ever. No need to mess with your hood to find the pre-determined sweet spot on an OEM seal. No more having to deal with issues with the OEM one when the lips fold over or get pinched. This thing will seal wherever you drop it in the hood channel of the hull. I'll be grabbing one for the RN and B1 for sure, maybe the SN too.
Changes aren't permanent, but change is.

Hmm..I like this idea as well. I can never seem to get my hood to seal all the way around with glued in ones.

What is the thickness of this one compared to other ones? Will I have any issues if my hood latch is a bit worn? One of the other styles I run squished down quite a bit and my latches(have tried a few) don't seem to want to hold the hood tight any more.

Re: NEW product: SURF SEAL - Superjet/Blaster hood seal

Hey guys, sorry for the delay...

There is nothing that goes on the hull side at all. The seal is pressed on to the inner lip on the hood and then is squished down to seal when the hood is on the ski.

This seal will work on a SN hood, BUT the hood will require a little modification. If you look at the bottom of the SN hood, you will see that the inner lip sort of merges at the front with the outer edge. You would need to file out a small part on both side where it comes together to allow the seal to press on all the way around. (I hope that made sense...)

I will try to get some more pics this wekend of my hood on my ski so you can see how it looks. The hood will actually sit apx 1/4" lower with this seal. by looking at it I doubt you will be able to tell.

Please feel free to PM me with any questions that I haven't answered here in case I missed something.

***Also... there have been a few guys asking if it will fit aftermarket hoods. yes they will IF the inner lip is the same as the RN SJ hood inner lip. The seal needs apx 1/2" of surface to be pressed on to.

Here are a couple more pics...

The green ski is how the hood sits with the new seal on it.

The Blue hood is the first ski that I tried this seal on. You can see in the pics how it installs. i ran that one for about a year and a half and the green ski for almost a year now so I know it works!

How does the surf seal keep water out? Cant it still get in through the vents on the hood?
