actually this is pretty common for some states. older skis can be registered without prev. titles and will not be disputed unless called in as stolen property within three years. in wisconsin ,all you need is a bill of sale and you register with the dnr.not the dmv.

Thats how MI is they send email your serial number and if it come back clean then your good to go if not then well you in deep sheet not to mention out a few hundred $$

ny isnt like that..... i had more than my share of problems getting them registered.

ME: Alright i have everything you(dmv) told me i needed all filled out!!
DMV: Where is the white form with red letters?
ME: Right here ma'am?

my fun dmv story

Me- Hi im looking to register this jetski its from mass and they dont title or use transferable registrations. I have a transfer of ownership form tax form reg. form and bill of sale
Guy - this isnt the olden days you need more than a bill of sale
Me - well can you look up what i need because im near positive all i need is a bill of sale when its from mass
Guy - argues with me very loudly eventually slamming stuff on the desk and getting a book, returns 10 minutes later and says quietly well your absolutely right sir that is all you need.

But yea i saw those skis dont really like how the 550 "sucked something up and stopped working"

I'm glad you were able to get the Cane reg'ed Matt...You guys have it ruff in NY - all I need to reg in Mass is a bill of sale, hell it could be written on a paper napkin, the state only really wants my check ( $$$$$$ ) for sales tax & reg fee...!!!
