Relocating Yankee looking to Ride

Hey guys,

I am looking to be relocating from Cleveland, Oh where I have spent the last 5 yrs riding on Lake Erie which is wide open and doesnt have gators and other fun things to worry about in it.
I am looking to moving to Lafayette, LA I am wondering where are the closest and the best places to ride. I like todo alot of wave jumping and cruising.

I am pretty intimdated by gator and assorded wildlife that will want to eat me when I fall off and I will fall off.

Thanks Guys

Rich

Re: Relocating Yankee looking to Ride

I'm 45 minutes East of Lafayette but still casually in the market for a ski but I've been on the water in Southern LA all of my life.

You will probably encounter alligators on just about every inland waterway so you'll just have to get over that. They've never bothered me during about 15 years of wake boarding. The snakes are what freak me out! I've never had a problem with them either but I just don't like them.

Oh, and there are bayous literally everywhere that are quite fun to tear through at a high rate of speed. You can make the 1:45 drive East to lake Ponchartrain to get some 3' chop on a windy day or head down to the gulf probably in less time to the South for some decent waves when the weather is right.

Re: Relocating Yankee looking to Ride

Hi Rich, I'm also heading to that area this winter. I've been down there several times the last few years but never scouted out the jet ski scene. I'm looking to buy a small house to spend the winter months in the Baton Rouge area. Snakes and gators freak me out too - I'll bet i don't fall off as much down there ! If you end up going - maybe we can hook up and find some ride spots - Thanks , John

Thats what I have heard! But I still don't want to ride aloneI In case I come up missing a leg or two! Where do you ride around there?

I know where Hammond is... I broke down out there about 2 weeks ago... Got towed to an Auto Parts store and jacked it up and fixed it in the parking lot!

I am thinking about bringing some ski's back down with me next month... What do the water temps run around here in March?
