Looking at your site, I realize that most of you guys are young, hard core, stand-up riders while I, in my late 50's, use my Jet Ski mostly to take my wife and my 8 years old son out on the water for a nice and safe family ride. Even though, with my riding style, I don't think I am "qualified" to join Wave Junkies I was hoping that some of you could still help me out and answer one or more of my several questions listed below: 1. What are the best and least expensive ramps in or around, Virginia Beach to drop the Ski in the water (ocean side or bay side)? I live fairly close to the Virginia Beach oceanfront...
2. Is there any spot in or around Virginia Beach where I could legally (or "kinda legally") pull my Ski onto the beach so my family could spend some time swimming and tanning while I ride my jet around? My new neighbor told me that he thinks that small boats and jetskis may be allowed on a beach called North End or Chix Beach (or something like that) and possibly on Sanbridge beach... How about if I ride south and cross the NC border? Would I be able and allowed to beach my Jet Ski down there?
3. Is ocean too choppy around here? Would it be safe to ride a three-seater along ocean front (down to North Carolina) with a family which is used to glass-flat lake water only?
4. Does anyone know where exactly is the "Factory Point"? (It is supposed to be an island or something...). What is that spot anyway?
5. Considering my current Jet Ski and my riding style, would I still be welcomed and fit for the next year's WaveDaze event?
6. WTF is up with this weather? When I moved down here I was hoping to have some warm weather with long riding season. It is freakin' colder than in Buffalo! ...or maybe I'm just too old. Is this normal for this time of year?
Sorry if I posted too many questions all at once... I just can't wait to get out on the water and I could really use any help I could get. Any and all answers, tips, advices, and suggestions will be highly appreciated. Hope to see you around... Thank you, Wave Junkies!

Well, If you ride a ski, no matter what type, or skill level, you are "qualified" to ride with the WaveJunkies. We welcome all types. We mostly surf riders with small skis, but we all hang out together & enjoy ourselves whether it's flatwater or ocean.
1) Owls Creek (Rudee Inlet) is free. The whole inlet is no wake, but it's direct acces to the ocean where we usually ride. Lynnhaven inlet can get expensive ($12 w/o a salt water fishing license). Munden Point (on the intercoastal in south
VB) is $5 & is really nice flat water riding. In Chesapeake, we ride at the Great Bridge Locks alot also- Free launch. There are many more, but those are a few for you. I plan on putting together a comphrensive list of ramps on wavejunkies.com soon.
2) Don't beach at Sandbridge or anywhere at the oceanfrontcroatan after 10 AM between May 1st and October 15th. Except @ WaveDaze in October of course

) You can beach at Chicks Beach (officially called Chesapeake Beach), you can also beach at Willoughby. Do not ride south past the NC border & beach there. There are HUGE fines in NC for doing that b/c of the wildlife reserves.
3) just depends on the weather. Check
www.surfline.com,
www.magicseaweed.com, etc. for ocean surf, temp, wind, etc info.
4) I have no idea what "Factory Point" is & I've been here all my life.
5) You're definitely welcome at WaveDaze! There is a coastline cruise for big skis, a ride to the Chesapeake Light Tower & back for big skis & next year, we are considering doing a poker run! However, you should hook up with us long before then, visit our site, log on & say what's up. I assure we will welcome you with open arms!
6) Sorry, no good answer for that one. I just shaved my head today too.... Bad Idea, haha. We still ride through January & pick back up in March. just wear a good wetsuit or drysuit. You can check out some of the mods that guys have done to their skis in the gallery at wavejunkies.com. Many guys run their cooling lines up through their handle bars in the winter. This keeps a constant flow of warm water going onto/into your wetsuit

)
Sorry that it took so long to respond. I rarely visit this site as I spend most of my time at
www.wavejunkies.com/trash-talk or at
www.x-h2o.com as I ride a stand-up ski.
