Albemarle Sound?

Any of you ski in the Albemarle Sound? Trying to figure out whether it is worth it to take one with me this weekend. Thanks!

It's huge, roughly 60 miles long with a 4 or 5 big tributaries. If you narrowed it down to a particular area it would be helpful. I've ridden from Coinjock NC heading south, then northwest up to Elizabeth City (EC). Nice ride. EC is very scenic. A portion of the intracoastal meanders from EC to the South Mills Dismal Swamp Lock. That's a very cool, jungle like ride.

Albemarle Sound is great for Jetsk'ing. If you are around the Nags Head area stay at least 600 feet off Jockeys Ridge State Park. They will write you a ticket for sure. Anywhere else is fine. Oh! and watch the sandbars!

Re: Albemarle Sound?

I realize this is a late response but ...

The Sound is great around Edenton and the Chowan River. Take 17 and just before the Chowan River there is a State ramp you can use. There are a few places in Edenton you can launch for a small fee too.

There is almost no traffic in this area of the Sound and Chowan River. Great views, places to visit, and eating.

Enjoy

Where are you going to be at? I'm thinking of putting the X-2 in on Sun. I ride on the other side Currituck Sound side

Re: Albemarle Sound?

I'm looking to put in at Whalehead this coming weekend. The chart looks to have some pretty shallow water up there and a bit tricky with the sandbars to get further south. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note, had a great time riding the Potomac from Nomini to Leonardtown this weekend. Had the whole river to myself!
