Info about your area

Hi, I am a proud first time owner from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I would love to ride in the Florida pan handle. How can I get info on good areas to ride and find good access, preferably easily reached from I-10 or I-110? Thank you in advance.

Public launches that will get me relativley close to some spots that we can ride and beach for swimming and such. I tend to look for places that may be a little off the beaten path, away from the big crowds.

I know just the place then. Its in Gulf Breeze like 15 mins from I10...Decent spot to launch then just a 5 minute ride across the bay to a perfect chill spot...and no one is ever there but still close enough that you can take the ski's down to surf burger at lunch time and have a nice bite to eat...close to everything while still having the whole relaxing unmolested on your own beach vibe.

Re: Info about your area

hey guys there are a lot of options
they started charging to launch in g-breeze but there are plenty of options i live about 1 mile from 110 and have a spot by the base that i ride frquently. its a protected baoyu w/ a pass to the bay. lrge island for chillin at and plenty of boat traffic for fun. a friend of mines family owns an offshore towing bussiness and their largest boat is a retired costgaurd cutter.he runs out of this bayou form his family's marina

the 45 catamaran from one of the resorts throws a mean wake that runs daily in the bay by the beach.

there is a launch at the beach but last time i was there it was under about 2' of sand.

there is a manual lunch area for us behind wings and next to flounders for food and drinks

Re: Info about your area

I'm in Mobile, and I prefer to ride over in FL as well as Mobile Bay sucks to ride in. I am aware of several launches, but maybe you guys can help me find more.

I've launched at Bayou Texar up the road from the 17th St. launch. I also konw there is one at the end of the 3 mile bridge on the Gulf Breeze side just as you exit the brigde on the right. Do they charge to launch there and how is the trailer parking situation during the summer?

I've launched at Garcon Pt. as my uncle lives on East Bay. When my grandpa is with us, I could go on NAS. Do you have to get a pass to access Sherman Cove or Navy Point? Grand Lagoon is also a good place that I've launched. You can easily access the intracoastal right between NAS and Ft. Pickens (my fav. place to ride).

Not sure if there are any other good areas that are "beachy" with plenty of room to spread out and minimal crowds. That'd be ideal. Navarre is also an excellent choice but that's getting a little far and expensive on gas but it's doable.

Any other ideas?

Re: Info about your area

sunset launch in navy point is free and first come first serve ( good luck in the summer.)

sherman cove is a pay launch for civilians but you have to be accompanied by active personel.

big lagoon rec area is nice and sucks for stand ups there is a large no wake zone out there.

launch p-cola beach sound side and if you have a cart you can acces the surf easily past portofino and the other direction at pickens gate where the free ride is supposed to be held at in april

alabama point in orange beach.

just a few

Re: Info about your area

The launch on Pensacola Beach is a good one if you can catch it at high tide. Check the tide tables before you launch. It's a PITA to get one on the trailer at low tide. I've launched there several times and that stretch of beach is a good one for hanging out at. It's a no wake zone so you don't have to worry much. The main thing that you do have to worry about is the tourists on rentals. Once you get away from them, it's pretty good riding. Good fishing as well in the flats across the sound.
