Places to ride / launch and questions

Hello everybody,
I usually ride on the delaware river, however this year I'm looking forward to riding the surf. I have a few skis (modded 650SX, stock 550SX, modded JS550). So my questions are;

1. Where is a good place to launch and ride? (preferably somewhere where I don't have to travel far.)

2. I once heard someone say that you need a tidal license to ride in the ocean, is this true? (I already have a NJ boating licnese, and safety course certificate.)

3. Lastly, Can you ride a ski where ever you want on the NJ shore? I understand you can't operate a ski within 50ft of people. So does that mean I could carry a ski onto any beach, push it out into the surf, then start it up?

Thanks!

You don't need a tidal license. I ride offshore all of the time ( Off of Long Beach Island). A great place to ride if you like juming is the Barneget inlet. There's a bunch of us that ride there pretty often. Where in NJ are ypu looking to ride / launch.

I'm not sure about the beach launching but go here to find out.

Re: Places to ride / launch and questions

Do a search for corson's inlet. There's a whole bunch of people who ride there. Just stop by on any given weekend and there'll be a bunch of stand-ups there. You'll be alright with just a regular jersey license. You can't just carry your ski across the beach and start rippin. There are several inlets and beaches you can ride during the summer, and after labor day you can cart your ski across the beach to the water on most beaches.

Do a search, there's a bunch of info on this.

corsons inlet is a good place to ride. North wildwood inlet is good too. i ride both, but mostly ride north wildwood. i ride differenttypes of ski's. all from the big couch to the little seadoo to a superjet so its fun for any types of riding. Wildwood also has sunset lake which is fun to ride then chill at a bar and grill on the outside deck

I ride in the manasquan river. Theres a nice island in the middle called treasure island where you can beach your ski and walk around. Its not too far from the ocean either and the manasquan river club is a pretty good place to launch. The manasquan inlet can be a little tricky for a jet ski when its real rough though.

Re: Places to ride / launch and questions

no lauching or landing of vessels in the twp of long beach- on the beaches on LBI - even thought the lifeguards do it through crowds of tourists at the busiest beaches in their pound boats... its a huge fine..that also means even the bayside street ends -where you think it would be ok-- ON LBI - you have to know some one with a private - owned ramp, or you have to go to public ramps, most are open 8-4 and cost a bundle even for a daily 1 time use, ( the moss on the ramp will put you on your butt everytime) third isnt really even an option - yacht clubs or marinas- good luck there...

**the public access ramps in beach haven / ship bottom have yet to put up gates to stop you from launching after hours -- but you take a chance with the theft of services fines, unless you hold in your possession a season-long launch pass. and dont leave your vehicle there with a trailer on it unless you do have a full season permit.
