Check out my new ride

With the innevitable sale of my motard in the near future it just wasn't possible that I could go without a bike. I've been on a streetbike since '04, had to keep riding. I have always been a huge fan of old bikes and vintage cafe racer style bikes (had an old Suzuki GN400 that was supposed to get rebuilt and cafe'd). On Saturday I stumbled on a sweet deal on a 1975 CB750 and couldn't pass on it. This is truly the original sportbike, big 4 cylinder that actually makes pretty good power (for being 35 years old) low and heavy as hell. I still need to make a seat for it (previous owner thought sheetmetal worked well), get a battery and some new pipes (the drag pipes are CRAZY loud). The PO had stripped the bike completetly down, painted the frame, suspension and motor, polished parts and cleaned everything up.

He would drive that up to the hitching post. he really did like the sheet metal for a seat.

Did you know Jeremy or just through the HP? The "seat" sucks and when its wet out you get covered in crap. The drag pipes will really piss off the neighbors at 6:30 in the morning. I am thinking about getting custom plates made for it that say 2WHLTNK.

Re: Check out my new ride

My dad had a few 750 fours and I can attest...those are some heavy pigs. Hella fast though for being so heavy. The one I remember my dad put a 4 to 1 pipe kit on it and the thing would pop wheelies with both of us on it and he wasnt even trying!

Re: Check out my new ride

Yep, I think they are a hair under 500lbs and right around 70hp. There are big bores, ignitions and other crap that can get 125hp out of it pretty easily I guess, there is more aftermarket parts for this than a superjet.

Just remember, there is very little aluminum there

I had a 1980 Kawi Z1R that weighed 542 dry. It was a tank but it was a great tire burner

Re: Check out my new ride

Finally got my 4-1 here and installed it, rebuilt the pet**** and tied up a couple loose ends and got it running. Took it for the first ride of the season (still not done but what I thought was streetable) and the motor locked up 15 minutes into the ride.
Yanked the motor and pulled the valve cover off to find the valve train on cylinders 1&2 starved of oil and seized up. Super!! I've got a new cam, towers, caps and rockers on the way hopefully it will be running again soon. It was a fun 15 minutes though.
I also have a mold made for a cafe tail section, just have to glass one up.
