How old do you have to be to ride a stand up on Lake Mead? same question for a runabout? I have 3 children ages 9 (almost 12) and 16.

Whatever you can get away with. I think the way the lake is now, they can all ride.

I believe Franky got a ticket, took the class, and when he went to pay the fine the ticket was not turned in or lost, so he didn't have to pay.

Is Mead in NV, or does AZ border it to the south? Lake Mohave and the Colorado RIver below are in BOTH states and are patrolled by Fish and Game as well as the local PD boats. The center of the river (or lake) are considered the state line. Even worse, just 10 miles south is Needles, the California border, so the laws are different there too.

I think minimum age to operate a PWC in CA is 16.

IMO, 12 is WAY too young.......I live on the river, and its scary as hell to see how reckless many riders can be.

My youngest is 11 and has been riding for 4 years with me, but NO WAY will he ride alone til hes taken that class and passed the test.

ANYONE can rent a PWC with only 5 minutes of instruction, and these rentals have 1200cc motors and can do 60+ mph!
