OC shoals pics.....

Bored as hell looking through some old photos. Sorry for the quality, we used one of those crappy waterproof disposables. These were a couple summers ago on my old GPR. Not bad for a couch, lol. Anyone else got some to share??

Hey Phil, here's a lil sneak peek at my 550sx/650 surf riding project. Moving on to glass re-enforcement in a couple weeks.

Re: OC shoals pics.....

did u make that pole?. that thing is bad a$$$. reinforce the pole bracket or it will snap.thats the weak spot on the 550's.
i've seen 550's pole brackets snap off in a heartbeat.

Re: OC shoals pics.....

Haha, nah I was lucky enough to find a MMF pole on fleabay so I jumped on it. I plan on glassing the pole mounting area because I've heard that's one of the weakest spots. Plus this pole is actually a pound heavier than the stocker!! So ill need all the strength I can get from the nose.

my pole is like 3lbs lighter than a stocker.it will stay up by itself.

if you need another one later on the next project let me know.

Re: OC shoals pics.....

Yeah, I thought I was getting a "light weight" handpole. After some searching I found some rumors that they weren't any lighter for the 550. So I did a quick comparison as soon as it got here. I think its mainly because the stocker is so light already and this one isn't really any shorter either. I'm going to get a completely stripped down comparison before I mount it and probably post it up in the forums so there is some accurate info out there. I'd be curious to see how light the a/m SJ poles are compared to this one. Feel like pulling yours off? Lol I think this one was 12 pounds with only the billet sub plate installed and the stocker was something like 10.5 with the stock sub plate and the pad and floatation still installed!

Re: OC shoals pics.....

just put a heavier spring on it, it'll be alright. 550's are cool skis , i had a few in my life.
