Lewes De to Ocean City, MD

Has anybody made this run before? I want to head down on a Saturday and back Sunday. Looking at sat photos i can see a ramp in Lewes and then theres a canal that runs down towards OC. Is there a lot of no-wake zones in that canal? Total miles seem to be about 30. Does that seem right?

i think i know about the canal your taljking about really skinny right??it will take you to fenwick area then open up into the bay and you can ride right down to the oc inlet but if its the canal im thinking of its not 6 knots but big boats run through there and there isnt but 2 feet on each side in places when the boats go through and we also had a big problem with alot of pine needles getting in the inpeller cool little canal though

That sounds like the one. It looks like its listed as the Lewes and Rehobeth Canal on Mapquest. Looking at Sat photos it looks like there is a marina with a ramp on Anglers Rd right off of route 9. I can also see a few boats with large wake streams behind them so it doesnt look like there are too many no wake zones. Gotta love that eye in the sky! [aka Overhead Assets]

I want to do a similiar ride from bethany delaware to OC. I know in bethany there is the indian river inlet which gives you a ramp w/ direct access to the ocean side or the large bay. Let me know...

Im in for this ride. Though i tried to drop in at Indian River when Bill came up and i got a bunch of crap from what of the rangers saying i didnt have DE tags or registration so i would have to pay $40 for a pass. Ive used that ramp a dozen times before. Im is as long as we stop by Secrets for a lot of drinks. Looks interestly tight on the MD/DE line.

Re: Lewes De to Ocean City, MD

Definately secrets major point of the trip HAHA. They do give crap, and I have to buy the pass every year. But the $40 for the pass I found it cheaper than the $15/day most convinient MD ramps charge (private)

Re: Lewes De to Ocean City, MD

We'll be coming out of jersey so either we'll put in at Cape May and run across the Del Bay which is about 20 miles best I can tell. The other option is to skip that, drive around and put in at Lewes De and run down from there.

We're tossing around the idea of doin a overnighter. A buddy of mine has a condo in OC and we can possibly park our rigs at a jet ski rental right next door overnight. It would depend on security and what they would charge. Seacrets is about 5 blocks away. I'd much rather stay there LOL.

Oh yea, the Offshore Powerboat Races are coming to OC May 29-30 . We were seriously looking at going down then and getting front row seats for the race when I realised that it was also going to be Memorial Day weekend! Although a Jetski might be the only way to get onto the island, you would need a shoehorn to get into Seacrets!
