DE or NC beach launching

Has anyone every beach launched in either DE or NC. The reason i ask is i just booked a week in Corova OBX with a bunch of friends. Corova is all the way north in NC. The road actually stops and only 4wd vehicles can drive on the beach. you actually drive anywhere from 3-10 miles where the houses start popping back up. I know it is illegal to beach launch but what does that mean? Should i take the skis? I know i cant back my jeep w/ trailer into the water but would i be able to trag the trailer out onto the beach pull my SJ or B1 onto a beach cart and launch that way. I guess that is still technically still launching. Just trying to figure out if it would be worth it. Also if anyone knows any inlets to get some better waves down there id be interested.

In NC it depends on the beach. It's completely based on local laws. I've been on some beaches with zero issues (Oak Island), and others that would try to string you up for carting a ski onto the beach (Holden). Also, a lot of beaches have laws against riding near shore. On Holden you can't have any motorized vessel within 500' of the shoreline outside of the inlet channel.

are you staying in carolla? i actually go down to hateras every summer. we have a week scheduled for the end of july and were thinken of taking the skis. when are you going?

we had a beach house at holden,put in at the bridge and we had a place on the canals ,just rode out past the restaurants to the bird island on low tide and you have the whole low tide island to yourself.it was the most fun i had in a long time.
what was crazy was the waves,i felt like visser on that riva 3d,i had her upside down and on top of me,i never completed the flips but damn it was fun.i did burn the exhaust up though.we kept the skis tied up at the house,netted for shrimp and got stoned off my arss.

hey mdstandup, try asking the guys in the "north gulf coast crew" in the riding group section. they may have some good ideas.

Yes and No. Its called Corova which is 3 miles North of that. The road stops at Corolla. We will be there July 10 - 17. Honestly i think i might just call DNR. See what they say just so i know what to say when/if they do give me crap.

Wouldn't North Gulf Coast be Pensacola, New Orleans, and Panama City?
