The Eastern PA River Runners
2010 Operation Helping Hero’s Freedom Ride
July 16th, 17th, and 18th 2010

The Eastern PA River Runners, a local charter club of The American Watercraft Association, along with The Perry Performance Group out of Dania Beach, FL. are proud to team with The Family & Friends For Freedom Fund Inc., to raise money for this wonderful organization that aids in the recovery of our combat wounded Marines and servicemen and women from other branches of the armed forces recovering at both Bethesda Naval Hospital and Walter Reed Medical Center. The 4th Annual Operation Helping Hero’s Freedom Ride will commence with the hopes and dreams of America’s hero’s riding with us. We will set out on a journey of approximately 400 miles round trip in 3 days on personal watercraft. The journey will take the following route:

First Day at Sunrise – Friday July 16th : Depart from Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis, MD and head down the Chesapeake Bay turning up the Potomac River to Quantico Marine Corps base in Quantico, VA. for a layover that evening.

Morning of the Second Day – Saturday July 17th : Continue up the Potomac River to Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge, VA. where they will meet up with 100 or so personal watercraft riders from around the area. The group will then travel to Washington D.C. in the hopes of raising awareness within the community and the government to the much needed help and care of America’s combat wounded Marines and servicemen and women from all branches of the armed forces. The group will then return and go to Tim’s River Shore Restaurant for lunch and a great afternoon of fun, entertainment and festivities before returning to the Marine Corps Base for the evening.

Morning of the Last Day – Sunday July 18th: The River Runners will depart from Quantico Marine Corps Base and begin their trip back to Sandy Point State Park along the same path that they arrived.

If you and your family believe and are thankful for the freedom we have, then please help those who have fought and suffered to bring us that freedom as well as dedicating their lives trying to free other countries. Do your part in whatever way you can to help The Family & Friends For Freedom Fund Inc. assist the fine servicemen and women who have fought with bravery for your right to live in the home of the FREE and the BRAVE.

All those who wish to participate in either the entire 3-day event, July 16,17 and 18 or the one-day only ride July 17 are required to pre-register by July 4, 2010. There will be a $25.00 registration donation per personal watercraft that will go directly to the charity organization.

For more information on the ride, how to pre-register, or how you can help please contact the Eastern PA River Runners at info@easternpariverrunners.org or you can contact The Family & Friends For Freedom Fund Inc. at www.injuredmarinesfund.org

Thank You

Re: 2010 Operation Helping Hero's Freedom Ride

Hi Ghostrider 117,

Yes at this point it is all sit downs, but who knows what the next 5 months will bring out We have a mixture of 4 strokes and some of the older 2 strokes. Yes we since it is quite a long distance spread out over 3 days we do have fuel stops set up along the ride route.

We also appreciate your interest in the ride. Hey if the 3 day is to long maybe the 1 day ride on July 17th up to Washington D.C, might work out for you and aybe some others. That is also a great ride in itself, we had a blast last year and we met many different people from many different areas and overall just had a fantastic time.

If I can help you out with any other information please let me know or you can contact at us at our website at www.easternpariverrunners.org.

If plans go as expected we will be meeting up with a group of people for the Norfolk, VA area who will be leaving out of that area and meeting us on Friday the 16th at the mouth of the Potomac River about mid-day and then we will head to Quantico. We hav a couple VA rides planned in June and August with guys and we had a great time riding with them last. Good group of people.

Thanks Again

Re: 2010 Operation Helping Hero's Freedom Ride

I have a smaller, two-stroke couch so the bay may not be the best riding for that long. I would love to do a long run, but the bay has a funny habit of beating you on a smaller ski.

So, I'm looking at my calendar. I like the cause and riding to DC would be a new one for me.

I'd have to see it to believe it.

Look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your support.

Re: 2010 Operation Helping Hero's Freedom Ride

Ok, I just looked at the map and my calendar. Right now, it looks like a fair chance I can make it.

Looking at the map, it looks like I could make (from a fuel and reliability standpoint) from Leesylvania Park.

A couple of questions.

-- Will there be support boats going along?
-- Is there a rain date or is this rain or shine
-- What would you say the average speed is? I don't have the fastest ski in the world and if I remember right, there's a fair amount of no wake zone thru there. Still, I wouldn't want to be the slowest slug on the water.

I think I may join the group as well. Sounds like fun. I plan on putting in on Kent island though and meeting up with the group at sandy point.

How long would y'all estimate the first day would take from Sandy Point to Quantico?
