Thumbs down Moving to the area, looking for best places to ride

Hello all,

My lady friend and I are planning a move to the area. Were moving from Plymouth, MA and looking at houses on Merritt Island so, I thought I'd check with you guys for the best places to ride.

We have a couple of Yamaha GP1200's and dig riding rivers, lakes and surf. However, after reading several posts’ it seems like riding may be limited around the island. Not to mention the NWZ I guess regarding the Manatees.

I also noted many "stand up" riders, no offence but, we'd love to hook up with others of the "sit down" persuasion if possible, any groups out there?

Re: Moving to the area, looking for best places to ride

Thanks for the reply and your offers to help.

I'm always impressed with the PWC community and how friendly they can be.

If anyone else can offer good riding information for the area we would be grateful. We're looking at homes located with canal access and docks. I hope we can make use of that for easy access to run at speed instead of poking around at no wake speeds.

Thanks in advance.

Phil

There alot of places to ride around here. Port Canaveral is the closest place to get out in the ocean. If you want to get away from NWZs you can ride the St. Johns river. Its a freshwater river. No manatees but lots of gators. As for riders of your own kind... lol there is a group called space coast jet riders (http://www.spacecoastjetriders.com). Welcome to the area.

Hey. You can check out OWR too. We have many members on the space coast and we ride all over central Florida.

Re: Moving to the area, looking for best places to ride

I'm normally in the banana river by the end of newfound harbor (across from walmart) at the island there call pelican island or bird sh*t island during the summer. The NWZ just blow around certain areas and you will learn them in time. Ski Island sucks, and you cant do anything around there, but bird island normally during peak times has about 10 skis out there and no one idles anywhere around the island
