Anyone using a ski to pull a wakeskate locally?

I am thinking of picking up a ski to use mostly for wakeskating but I would also like to take it out of the inlet for some tow-at/in surfing. I was just curious if anyone here has any tips. I just sold my boat to get a house and I am looking for a cheaper ride. I have always loved using a ski, just never bought one for myself.

I am moving right across the river from Sebastian Inlet so I can see myself hitting the water more often with a ski than a boat anyways.

any input is appreciated!

Oh yeah, and I am a new guy

Re: Anyone using a ski to pull a wakeskate locally?

Thanks BigKahuna, but I was kinda thinkin a little on the cheaper side. I forgot to mention I would like to pick up a used model but if I don't see anything worth it I will most likely go for the GTX wake model you mentioned. I have seen them tow in person and they are sick. I am just hoping there is a model that has been out for a while that would perform similarly and I could pick it up a little cheaper.

Thanks again

Welcome to the area. Hope to see you at the inlet soon.

If you go 4-stroke non-turbo is usually better for towing. They have better off-idle torque.

Thanks Dave,

I know what you mean about the lag. Maybe you will see my wrx around Palm Bay a little too. I've got an 02 with a hybrid motor set-up. I am still sorting out a few things with it now but I should be tuned soon. Have you done much to yours?

Glad to see another Suby guy. Mine's only uppipe/turboback with a good tune and STi struts and springs. I use it for RallyCross and HPDE so most of my car budget goes into new tires and brakes.
