Anyone own a SeaDoo Jet Boat in Space Coast Area?

I just got a 1998 Sportster with the twin Rotax 85hp 717 engines. I only took the boat out on the river twice so far... Wondering if anyone around here works on their own ski's/boats too... I am pretty good mechanically and I plan to maintenance this boat myself. It seems I need to change out the wear rings soon, and prolly rebuild the carbs since I don't think it was done since the first guy boat the boat in 98.. I believe the fuel filters are in there and could use to be changed as well. Hit me up if any of you guys wanna get together or anything, or can help me out.. this will be my first time working on jet pumps and these 2-stroke motors... I am new to going on the river too since this is my first boat down here in FL. I live over in Indian Harbour Beach just across the Eau Gallie bridge. You can also hit me up on email @ andybilak@gmail.com

I'm just down the street from ya. Wish I could help, but I've never even ridden in, much less worked on, a jet boat. But welcome anyway.

Re: Anyone own a SeaDoo Jet Boat in Space Coast Area?

I believe this boat just has 2 717 Jetski motors in it.. so it should be very very similar to working on a ski as far as the 2-cycle motor and jetpumps go. Right now the boat runs great.. it seems the left steering nozzle can be adjusted slightly so the boat runs straighter (it pulls to the left a little when the wheel is straight)... So I am just slowly going to adjust the rod between the 2 steering nozzles to get them "straighter" (someone on another forum suggested doing this in very small increments)... Other than that... it looks like it needs new wear rings since the clearance appears to be greater than 1mm... So I'm gonna run it like this for now, til the end of the year, because the boat runs fine (about 45-48mph) but I think it's supposed to go more like 55 or faster with new rings and good impellers.... Once I take it out of the water for a while I want to do a whole tune-up on it. I also downloaded the SeaDoo shop manual for it so I have some guidance.
More than anything I just wanna get out on the river with this thing as much as I can.. usually SAT and SUN... and have fun!! Maybe I'll see you guys out there.
