OP cylinder

I have an ocean pro cylinder for my kaw 550, but I can't get any top end out of it. I'm running a 15.5 ss impeller 150 lb compression kerker long pipe, super bn 44mm caurb. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks Steve.

The config you have now is more of a low end setup.... go to 165-170 comp
shorter pipe, alittle more gear 16-16.5 pitch depending on how much you weigh.

Re: OP cylinder

What rpm range are we talking with the OP cylinder? I weigh 156 lb. I will try bumping up the compression. The altitude where I boat is 4500ft above sea level. I am running about 5600 5800 rpm currently and am worried that running a increased pich impeller might bog my engine even more than it is already.

Re: OP cylinder

Seems the lack of top end is a lack of RPM. That motor should be spinning close to 8,000 RPM on top end.

I'd have to ask what the condition of the motor is. When was the last rebuild, are the cran seals bad, are there any other air leaks....?

No reason that pump set up can't hit 45 MPH even at that altitude. Something is wrong with the motor if you're maxing out at 5,800. Stock 550's went to 6,700.
