Lube'm or Loose"m steering cables

“I broke my steering cable” Since 1977 when Ocean Pro first started we’ve heard the same words over and over from stock nozzle users and after market . So here’s a little light on the subject…..
First we need to use the right terminology To say you “broke” your steering cable is to imply that you exceeded the physical properties of what you thought to be a perfectly good part so.

1. You don’t “break” a steering cable it sets up a flex pattern and cycles and transfers that force (when in use} to point on the cable where it eventually fatigues and “fails”.
2. The tensil strength of that size stainless cable far exceeds any amount of thrust acting on the nozzle created by HP, at least that I know of.
3. The cable is actually under tension when you turn one way and compression when you turn the other way That sets up a cycle.
4. It is also incorrect to say you broke a steering cable because you used an after maket steering nozzle.
5. The cable acts upon the nozzle The nozzle does not act upon the cable.
6. If the after market nozzle has the same pivot ball position as the stock nozzle you need to redirect your focus.
7. Generally If you change you steering ratio at the handle pole that can put a bit more stress on the cable. But that’s still not the core issue.
8. Steering cables have a cycle lifespan. The more you use them and mis-use them the shorter the span.
9. Lube’em or Loose ‘em

So what does everyone lube with? I just use silicone spray.

Ken, check your voicemail. I left you my number.
Otherwise, a picture or scan of the logo will do nicely.

BTW. love your products. Any Polaris goodies gathering dust over there?

SL,
I use LPS lubricant/rust inhibitor.
