Lightbulb ~So Cal PWC Lakes~

Please use this thread for referance only. Keep all messages between members in PM's please. If you have been to lakes in southern Ca that you can take PWC's on, than please list them with the plus and minuses for each, along with any other info you have. Please post the name of the lake in the title for quick referance for everyone else. Helpful information would be great. Just list anything you can think about that will help the next person in basing his decision on where to go. It is hard enough to find locations that are what you want. One could have been 2 miles up the road but if no one post's, WE WILL NEVER KNOW! Here are some if you can't think of your own! Thanks guys...keep PWC alive!
  • Where (North end?, east end?, name of place? Etc..)
  • Cost (Camping,ski's Etc...)
  • Park ski's on beach?
  • Family spot? Party spot?
  • NEGATIVES (Bugs, trash, water access Etc..)
  • Ramp (steep?,crowded?, Etc..)
  • Weather and time of year.

Re: ~So Cal PWC Lakes~

El Capitan in East San Diego

The good :
Warm area, warm water
Small Bouy Course
Only Lake for PWC in San Diego
Fresh water of course
Picnic Area;s
Easy Ramp, not to crowded, but I have never been there on a weekend
Water Seems pretty clean

The bad
Cost 17.00 for you and your ski to get in the water.
Cost 10.00 for each person if you are riding double or even triple.
Very few spots to beach.
Not as easy to get to as the bay.
No Camping

Re: ~So Cal PWC Lakes~

The really bad:

It cost me $68 for my 4 place trailer to enter the park..even thought I only rode 1 ski
I went in counter-clockwise circles for 10 minutes...until I got bored & dizzy.
Trailered my ski and went to Shelter Island & the ocean for FREE then bought $68 worth of Corona on the way home

Re: ~So Cal PWC Lakes~

Well you got ripped off considering its 7 dollars to use the ramp per boat. and 10 to be in the water. Thats 28 dollars for your 4 ski's plus 10 for you to swim or ride the water it should have been 38 at the most. And Im sure you could have asked to talk to a supervisor about only using one ski... Dont get me wrong its still expensive!!!!

Re: ~So Cal PWC Lakes~

Lake Webb Buena Vista Rec Park

* Where Ask them for a spot with trees, it gets really hot. Also, try to make sure you get a water side spot.
* Cost Around 35 a night
* Park near beach Yes, little rocky in spots
* Family spot? Party spot? Both, depends on how many people you have with you. Family if you have water toys, a water side spot, and a bunch of popsicles for the kids. And some shade

* NEGATIVES Hot as sin during summer months. Water can get shallow, lkaes only ten feet deep at deepest. Cops patrol real sneaky, good and bad, Ramps are good for all. Nice and HOT Middle of no where. Reservations are like 88 days in advance. Only reserve from 9-noon. Water is REALLY muddy. Hot at 6 in the am, get on the water! Cost 40 to get in roughly, good new spot.

POSITIVES

Stores have everything you need. There is one in the campground also.Great pwc area, can do tricks, close to camping spot, no long *** rides. Clean, lots of room, freshwater, catfish (catch them with chips on top the water. Throw them on top and scoop them with a net. CRAZY!) Right on water.

Overall
Great new spot to experience if you dont mind the heat and being in the presence of the great Bako! Freshwater to ride our two strokes on is always great!

Re: ~So Cal PWC Lakes~

Lake Elsinore

* Where North end has a nice lil beach access campground. Best spot on the lake. Mom and pop place. The rest of the lake is iffy. The mid east side beach is nice near the boat launch I suppose.
* Cost Too much.....same as everywhere else. About 10 per ski and 10 to park I think
* Family spot? Party spot? Day use parks are great for the kids, the water is really unhealthy in summer. I found out about the bacteria and I will nevver take my children near that water again.

* NEGATIVES
Bacteria in water
Cost
overall fun, not the best place to go. Way better lakes to go to. If you have NO other place to go than be my guest.
* Ramp STEEP and crowded during major weekends but where isnt.
* Weather warm to hot. makes the water to warm causing bacteria that can hurt children.

The counterclockwise rotation is like ^ MILES LONG so advisably no stand ups....really wavey. Just take the stand ups to the mom and pop campground for your best time with them....its a blast. It is near the actaul like state park. Just look for or ask around.
