Overnight Catalina Trip

I'm planning a trip to Catalina from Long Beach. I was planning on leaving in the morning and spending the night and then returning the following morning.

I was wondering if anyone knows where is a good place to dock the Seadoos for the day and overnight in Avalon.

Any other comments or suggestions would be welcome as well.

I've researched most all precautions about saftey etc.

Thanks for you thoughts...

Re: Overnight Catalina Trip

There is a ride scheduled there leaving Dana Point on the Morning of the 24th and returning the 26th. It's put on by a dealer, don't know if I can post the dealer or not, so I won't, but I went 2 years ago and it was a lot of fun. Bought a '09 FX Cruiser SHO today to take this year. I'll probably be riding the old Wave Venture and the wife will ride the new one.

Re: Overnight Catalina Trip

Well, since a dealer puts it on, the logistics are all handled by them. They have 2 boats that go to carry luggage and tow disables PWC's, one in the lead and one in the rear. They make the restaurant reservations (but you don't have to go with the group, you can make your own) and have a line reserved to hook the boats to. Hotel reservations are your own responsibility. We made ours at the Atwater in Avalon. It's about the cheapest (if that's an issue for you) at around $140 a night (maybe less, I don't remember). There's also a campground there that's considerably less if you want to go that route. You can even get a "furnished" campsite with a tent, cots, and propane stove for around $70, you just need to bring the sleeping bags or blankets. We went a couple years ago and it was a lot of fun. It will be even better this year because we won't be riding 2-up on a '96 Wave Venture, I'll ride it and my wife's riding the new FX Cruiser SHO.
