Lake Elsinore - Dead fish warning 8/15/09

I went riding at Lake Elsinore on Saturday and there were dead baby fishies everywhere. Not sure what the cause of it was, but that's not a good sign. I figure by this weekend, they would be rotting dead fish...

Riding was nice, just don't wanna go back until they resolve the dead fish issue.

I am hitting Lake Perris instead this Saturday.

So much love in this group. Thanks for a warm welcome I guess there is a rampant "lying about the lake conditions" problem on this board...

Not sure who your "locals" are, but you can see for yourself (pics attached). If you think I photochopped all those little fishies into the picture, then call the Lake yourself and ask about the dead fish situation. I'm just trying to contribute...

Have a better day

P.S. Yay, just doubled my post count.

Re: Lake Elsinore - Dead fish warning 8/15/09

I noticed that at our local lake earlier this year - not nearly as many as in those pics but it was Shad - did some research and learned it was normal for our lakes - caused by sudden change in water temp.

Temperature fluctuations are a much under appreciated stress-or of fish. Shad do not tolerate temperature changes very well.

It seems there were more than a 'few' dead fish....10 to 15 million!
