Question Imperial Beach

I did a search on Imperial Beach, and found some info that people have been riding the surf down there, but most of the info was from about 2007 I believe. There is supposed to be a place to launch down there between two jetty's. Just wondering if anyone rides down there? or has any information.

Here is the post I'm referring to, even has a google map of where the launch is.

Re: Imperial Beach

Not only are you Riding in Mexican sewage in IB, the Lifeguards call the SD Harbor Police and they are waiting on you when you go back to Shelter Island.
They are VERY serious about the Homeland Security 1500 ft from the beach law.
I've posted this federal law on this forum MANY times but nobody believes me.
Just go down the strand 100 yards off the beach and head south and let us know what happens :>)
I've been jetsking these waters for 30 years now, Osama screwed it up for all of us.

Re: Imperial Beach

The area is actually south of IB, so I dont think there would be much for people down there except for border patrol. They say if its been raining to stay out of the water, but if its during dry weather it is fine. When it rains Tijuana's sewage just goes into the Tijuana river and into the ocean, but when its dry it goes through a treatment plant. Its some what the same thing for the rest of San Diego beaches. The homeland security thing is a completely different issue though.

Re: Imperial Beach

Bunch of negative Nancy's in here .... Ok so maybe IB isnt a great idea, riding in a potential sewage area and violating homeland security laws being mistaken for a terrorist is probably not a good idea. Hey didnt say I was going riding just looking for info, since it would be great to drive 10 minutes to ride the surf instead of 20 to point loma or a nearly a hour to get to O-Side. I guess it goes with the old saying if its to good to be true it probably is!

Jeff your right we need to quit talking about O-side and head out there.
