Homeland Security cameras on San Diego coast

I finally figured out why we keep getting *jumped* by SD Harbor Patrol & CG when we get anywhere near the Imperial Beach Pier. An article in the SD Union yesterday was about the high-powered regular/infra-red cameras that are located *secretly* from the border up to La Jolla that have a 10 mile range (horizon) and are monitored 24/7.
I have been stopped and questioned going SOUTH the last 2 Rides while 3 miles off-shore !!!
Also explains why we get stopped in SD Bay AFTER returning from IB Pier and questioned by the Harbor Patrol...they were notified by these camera operators WITH our hull numbers.
BIG BROTHER is out there !!!!!

Permits to Ride 3 miles off-shore ???
The lifeguards chase you & call the CG if you get within 1500 ft of the shore ANYWHERE south of SD Bay jetty....been there done that.
I've been stopped a dozen ttimes down there and they NEVER asked for a permit.
I don't jump waves, just FLY @ 65mph...I must look like a drug-runner going the wrong way

I questioned these new cameras with a CG Lt. who stopped me going SOUTH last week, not North, 3 miles off-shore.
He said they were looking for "suspicious" activity in coastal waters (illlegals & drug runners going North in rickety fishing boats). I asked him why he stopped us going SOUTH at 65mph..he said he was directed by camera operators to *investigate* some *fast movers* (us).
Making it HARD for me to plan Rides with my PWC Club..gotta just go North now.
SUCKS because there are TONS of dolphins & seals that play with us off of Coronado & Imperial Beach :<( http://sdpwc.net/dolphins.html
