I don't know about renting a house, but Twin Palms or Aha Quin might have a trailer you can rent... they are just north of Blythe about 20-30 mins.

Sweetest smoothest riding on the planet if you go mid week.

i have been going to the river since i was in a diaper. and i think my favorite part is just up river of topock gorge. there are nice beachs nice camp grounds and the water isnt hot like the lake. if you go up river a bit into needle there are a couple places to rent a house or get a hotel room.
