Re: Beach riding?

I think the only place to do this in SoCal is Pismo Beach, for sure nothing south of LA. You can't beach any watercraft or boat and jump waves.
You may want to check out Fiesta Island inside Mission Bay.

Re: Beach riding?

Fiesta Island is your best bet. You can get to the ocean through the Mission Beach channel.

Re: Beach riding?

you cant camp at fiesta island til thunder boats and OTL. camp land by the bay i think would be the closest you could camp to open water. there isa place called shelter island where you can launch your ski, and its about a mile or so to the ocean. its in the san diego harbor. lots of big boats, lots of wake, and it passes a place called point loma. there is a smal area thats only accesable by boat. there is a shore break there, and last weekend we were lucky enough to get some 6-7 foot rollers through. HUGE AIR off these rare waves. gonna be out there today again. pm me when your are thinking about comming out and we will set up a ride to get you some REAL action. you have your pilots license right ?

Re: Beach riding?

I live nearly 5 hours from pismo, but I really want to go ride breaking waves (as in off of a beach). Is there anywhere else I can go?

Re: Beach riding?

sure is. oceanside. launch from oceanside harbor, go north about a mile and a half and its all open military land. as long as you dont beach, you are left alone and its a really good time.
