Starting the Year

So the Year is about to start for (at least for those of you who are lesser dedicated riders who havn't already started)

So whos around here, whos in mood to start getting together on a regular basis and form a solid Orlando base? Its been lack in the past but I would like to see if there are guys around here to actually Unite.

For sure there is Laserman, and I. We ski on the same Lake quite often but I'm sure we are ready for new scenery. Neuba has joined us recently and I think hes gonna stick with it (mostly cause his "wife" is going to force him to stick with it after spending all that cash this week, I think I'm still ahead of him dollar to dollar though lol)

So lets hear it, and chime in for once.

Re: Starting the Year

I assume you mean stand up riders. There already is a big solid group for sit downs.

I bet stand ups are great fun, I doubt my knees could handle them though!

Re: Starting the Year

Well Ill even ride with a group of Couchers depending on what you guys do.

I personally enjoy the hell out of doing river trips on the St Johns. Naturally I cant go as far or as fast as you guys do, since I dont feel comfertable cruising more than 25-30 mph for fear of my hi-comp motor bitin the dust....

I just assume most of you guys sit in a lake, do a circle, go fast, do a circle go fast, do a circle....

I know this because thats what I rode for 8 years before i got a standup....

Re: Starting the Year

Yea, I just looked through your st johns pictures....

You guys just go 50mph the whole way it seems... So much for that.

You guys should try marketing to a younger crowd too....

Re: Starting the Year

Hah, we just let anyone ride with us, old or young, as long as they are responsible riders.

We do the long distance rides and such, but also hit the waves at Ponce Inlet or Matanza Inlet. I personally don't ride in circles on lakes anymore, I much prefer wave jumping and/or the long rides like the one we do from Daytona to St Augustine and back. Those are fun.

Re: Starting the Year

Neuba, you mean lakes for Stand Ups?

Lake Ivanhoe (the lake which stradles I4 on the north side of Orlando) is a very good lake. The main portion where the boat ramp is is generally where sit downs or waterskiers are, but go under I4 and you are in a very quite (read: smooth) section of Lake Ivanhoe since people rarely go there.

Moss Park (30 minutes south of Lake Mary off the Greenway) is a good lake, but the "beach" area can get crowded and many of the sit down riders there don't seem to know how to follow no wake signs, they get on their skis and gun it right off the beach. Not all, but some do and those are the ones which give us a bad name.
