Re: Moving to orlando where to ride?

I assume you are a stand up rider based on your name. Some of the more popular places (lakes) to ride would be Lake Ivanhoe and Moss Park.

Lake Ivanhoe is a lake which stradles I-4 on the north side of Orlando. It is a fairly good sized lake. Watercraft and occasionally boats are on this lake, but it is never too crowded.

Moss Park is a much bigger lake. As the name suggests, it is a large park located SE of Orlando off the 417 (Greenway). It's only a buck or two to get in, has a small beach to bring your ski up on. The lake is really big so once you get off the beach area it is not crowded.

There are other lakes that are common, but not as nice. Lake Underhill is east of Orlando off the 408, but there is construction going on and I have always run into some reckless riders there, so I now avoid that lake. Nothing like 10 year olds running around the lake, by themselves, on an 850 pound RXT 3 seater! Some scary crap!!!

Dont go to lake underhill, it's tainted. They found a dead guy in there not too long ago. You can call it Lake Undercontaminated.

When I lived up there (I went to MMI also), I usually rode on the Butler chain in Windemere (lots and lots of connected lakes, really cool place) and lake Conway off of Hoffner... both are in SW Orlando, not too far from the school.

I live right outside Orlando. I lived 140 feet from the Butler chain, both Butler and Conway are COP shops for stand-up riders. If you are at a home on either chain, you are marginally safe at best. If you put in on one of the two public ramps on Butler and you aren’t 100% legal (fire ext is what gets me every time) you will get a ticket.

You’re coming from the west coast, take the hour drive and ride either Ponce or Sebby. The lakes here in Orlando are for flushing your ski out on the way home.

Re: Moving to orlando where to ride?

Good point KingTut, I didn't have a standup when I lived there, I just rode my HX, but even on that I got stopped a few times. Lots of fish cops on both those lakes.
