If you want to go wave jumping, Ponce Inlet is your place. Simple way to get there is I4 east until you hit the ocean (US1) Make right and so south until you run into Ponce Inlet Park, make a right right before the Park Entrance booth and follow that around and you will see a small boat ramp right next to the lighthouse. Load into the water, head south on the water (no wake zone for 5 minutes... don't even think about speeding since a Coast Guard station is around the corner)
Once you pass the sign saying you can go fast, head toward the left, which is the inlet and of course the ocean. On the right side you can jump waves on the inlet side of the stone breaker, but don't go to the other side since the surfers are there. The ocean there can be flat as glass, or waves 8-10 feet high. Distance between waves can be washing machine style chop, to long graceful 20' spans between crests.
Ponce Inlet is a great place to spend a day wave jumping then laying around on the beach in the inlet. If you ride the ocean waves, stay 1,000 feet off shore (3.3 football fields if that helps) otherwise you will piss off the surfers and coast guard may come talk to you for being to close to shore. The CG's are pretty cool, just don't be an *** and they will be nice back to you and understand a mistake can happen. Be a prick, get a ticket...
