Re: Hey!!! One Question!!!!

i think you are required to have a boating safety ID card and a boating license if you're under 21 in Florida.......not sure, but it's what i've heard

Re: Hey!!! One Question!!!!

As noted, if you are under age you need a license and boater safety card. You can take an online course for free I believe, or pay ~$25 for the class. Insurance is not required by the state, but you should have some, even if minimum coverage.

Go to our website if you want to hook up with local riders.

Re: Hey!!! One Question!!!!

Oh, and you need a license plate on your trailer.

We don't need them here in Wisconsin for trailers under 20' long.

I've vacationed in Florida many times, and I've been pulled over as much as 3 times in a week (Clearwater/Tampa area where I rent a condo), simply because I don't have a plate on my trailer - even twice by the same cop on consecutive days. Once they radio in to confirm WI doesn't issue plates for my size trailer, they politely let me go on my way, but it seems obvious that the cops are keying on this.

Re: Hey!!! One Question!!!!

Yup, get your boating license, make sure your tralier/car have all working lights and such.

In your PWC, make sure you have a mirror and a small flashlight (if you are pulled over on the water, they check for those) Of course, a fire extinguisher goes without saying...

On your vest (and you have to wear your vest at all times, even while unloading/loading at the dock) you need a whistle, or on your lanyard.

Think that covers everything you can get in trouble for... oh, and of course obey the speed limit signs, particularly in the mantaee zones since they WILL nail you if you go 1 mph over, or make a wake in a no wake zone.

Keep in mind, the boating industry controls the waters still and just because you see a boat making a wake doesn't mean your jet ski won't draw the attention of the water cops if you make a wake in the same spot.
