Greetings from the new guy

Hi there,

I heard about this forum and very excited to see a SA group.
I not sure if its custom to introduce yourself but I thought I would anyway. I own a Yamaha SJ700 (modified) and recently relocated from Durban up country to Jhb. I went to the Speed world park yesterday and was amazed to see how many riders there actually is up here. I really enjoyed it and can wait for the future weekends to get wet again.

I used to own a Blaster 1 down at the coast and did most my riding in the surf (every weekend all year round). When I was transfered I sold it and bought the "Stand Up" and LOVING IT. I'm still learning and hopefully with loads more practice I will get it right. If anyone has some tips for me I would really appreciate it.

Also so I'm at a cross road and hoping to get some advice... Sponsons- are they worth it?

Cheers and see you in the water.

Hey howzit Patches! Welcome to the site, its a shame you had to sell ur blaster...ive raced 785,sport,1200,ski....and the best combo i think is what i have now blaster1(currently mod so much that i might not be legal to race but who cares,wf class sport MOD!!!! and sj FREESTYLE i think im the only bloke in sa focused on this aswell)
Who did ur skis down there? up here theres only 1 guy thats worth it,even i send my skis down for repairs and mods to dustin or patrick. They smoke you up here beware!!!im not joking.
My riding spot is 60km from pta,60km from jburga and isnt crowded, must organize,ur welcome to stay at the lake house if its to far for a day for ya! Hendrik Lloyd.
Sponsons????? sj has tubbie or those side rail sponsons...tubbie def worth it if you want cornerinf for racin, but ul c its pretty unstable in the straights...doesnt want2 stay perfectly straight leans either left or right...get urself sum hull extentions, set back pump and a longer rideplate plus a drop nozzle!!that really helps but you need lotto money,ha.$$$$$

Re: Greetings from the new guy

Patches, found you at last!
Welcome to PWCToday.com.

Good advice from exile on those front tubbies.
Did you get the pics I sent you.
I hang around the Yamaha section mainly.

exile - you should pop in at Speedworld to see who else is doing freestyle
We got a standup crowd to take note of.

Cheers

exile (Hendrik)
I never saw so many standups in one place until I starting going to Speedworld. This is partly the reason for swinging me away from a Blaster to a Superet for my 2nd ski. All the pros are there - I'm the amateur
It's no where near as pretty or as big as Bronkies but it's 5 min drive from my home.
I only go on Sundays/pubic holidays. Patches is there every Sunday. I don't get there as often as I would like - wife gets tense!
Trying to get there this coming Sunday (1 Oct).
PM me if you want to organise.

Re: Greetings from the new guy

Hey Exile,

I do most repairs myself but when in need I only trust one guy... Patrick. I'll even still take the ski to him. I trust him with my baby and he does quality work and you know you are not getting ripped off. Where is a good place to buy new riding kit from up here? Need new JP jacket, summer suit... I appreciate the invite to your riding spot, only been going to one spot, Speedworld. RPM is right... standups rule there, you should definatley try it. I try to get there at least once a week, normally Sunday.

RPM
Got the pics, thanks. Missed you this weekend. Was a tad windy but all in all a great day. Was finished when I left, trying to work on the fitness side and getting it right. Finally getting the hang of cornering, still coming off a lot but the future looks brighter. Ski is going so well and actually gave the couches (ha, ha- new term I learnt moving up here) a run on the straights.

Exile, you go done to the surf much? I do miss it but do not regret buying the Superjet. Its an awesome challange and great fun to ride on flat water.

I bought a R&D ride plate, makes a huge differnce. Still thinking hard about the tubbie 2 sponsons and will probally get them. Thanks for the advice Excile.

See ya at da water!!!!

Re: Greetings from the new guy

Hey Patches, haha im drivin down to collect my skis from Racetech nextweek, just spoke to Jayden Racetech(I speak to him a lot)....I agree with the whole gauteng ripoff culture, thats why I hav my own import company, had 4 shipments allready,brasil,usa,usa,usa....I import products to keep the cost down for myself and if anybody else wants anything just shout! Im importing myself a full jetpilot riding kit within the next month you want anything???Then split the shipping...ha bloody rand....

SURF!!! I used to almost live in the surf raging the waters with motz,windsor,sneddon....it was when i was 12 to 18(elbows and ears) got rather good could do backflips, brolls on a blaster plus all the fmx tricks.(jimmy saw my cliffhangewr to nohandlander...he just said im mental...)now im flatwater bound till $$$$$ arrives.Unless the demos or trips.

Flatwater a superjet is a blast! U should ride mine when we ride sometime. Pretty mean ski.

C ya guys soon! AND WE MUST GET A FREESTYLE CLASS FOR THE NATIONALS GOIN!!!!!!!the 1st national is 25th nov speedworld.

Ski Ya.
Exile.

Re: Greetings from the new guy

Hey Excile,

Perfect timing, I was just about to place an order on the USA for new Jetpilot kit (jacket, suit, boots, gloves, oakley goggles). Let me know when and where you ordering from and I will be happy to share the ship costs.

Great minds think alike. I too speak to Jayden and Pat allot. Go back along way. You ever been to Richards Bay? You rode with Dustin and Justin. Thats where I grew up and started riding. Our paths may have crossed.

Will appreciate the clinic, need all the help I can get but in a few years I hope to be a serious contender o nrace days.

Cheers,
