| winter project #4 Found this on CL, gave 400.00 for the whole outfit, boat, trailer and motor. Interior isnt bad, needs some new carpet and a few small things. Wiring harness on the motor is shot, somebody forgot "red's hot, black is not" and god only knows what else is going on with it. It's a 15'6" fiberglass hull, good shape overall.
The plan-
Clean the junk out of it. (mostly done)
Get the outboard off it and the cables gone. (motor is off, gotta get steering console out tomm.)
Find and install a 650sx? bottom hull section, so i get my motor mounts, bearings carrier and jet pump mounts. If the 650 isnt enough ooomph!, then will be easy to swap a 750 in.
Make it go backwards as well as forward.
I want a good fishing boat out of this deal, as long as it will plane out and run 20-30mph, i'll be happy. Should be great for the river and way-back coves. http://www.glen-l.com/jetski/jetjon-1.html is my basic plan for the install.
I have a good friend that has a fiberglass shop that will take care of the installation, i just have to do all the cutting/grinding. YUCK! but it should be worth it in the end. I'll try and keep this updated, but with the budget or lack of, it's not going to be fast.

Me and my buddy are building a Jet Jon also! It should be done by next week! I'll try to get some pictures. We just used his old 440 and a 12ft jon boat as a test dummy. If this one works out we are going to get a 900+ cc motor and a 16ft jon boat and do it up right. |

Lots of fun but selling in the spring because the jetmate is taking it's place. I was surprised how much attention it gets - at the gas pump or at the ramp people see the nozzle out back and immediately realize what they are seeing.
