has anyone ever made their own kick tail for turf?

Im getting mats for the SXR and want to get the 1" kick on the back, but i dont want to spend $20 on a piece of foam.

Has anyone made their own succesfully?

you can layer up the old pieces of turf. Or go to a fabric store and buy some foam to cut your own.

stack gradually smaller pieces of old turf and sand smooth then cover and you're done.

Spend the money on the tail. It is made to hold up in water. Stacking turf would work, but wouldn't be stiff enough in my opinion. I would get the 2 inch and then sand it down and shape it to size.
