Which Yamaha??

I was looking for some advice, i know you probably see posts like this way too often, but I need some help. I'm a stand up rider, and don't know much about the sit downs. My family currently has a 2004 rxp, but it is time for something new.

We want something with good power (able to tow 2 adult sized tubers on 2 tubes, and maybe even some wakeboarding mixed in there too). Reliability is a must, so I'm definitley thinking Yamaha. It also has to be under $10,000. So far I was looking at the VX or the FX. Which one is the better bet? I'm also confused because there is the cruiser, the sport, and those other versions of the VX and FX.

I'm sorry if this is a repetitive thread, I did a search and just couldn't find what I was looking for. Your imput is appreciated..

Re: Which Yamaha??

I was in your same situation about a year ago. I compromises and got a regular FX for about 10K. I love it. I like the extra speed and power, the rough water handling of the FX hull, reverse, and added storage over the VX. But the VX's are nice too.

Re: Which Yamaha??

Usually the Sport and Cruiser models have different seats. The group I ride with has VXs and I have a FXHO and they all do fine, but when the pulling gets tuff like big high drag tubes, the FXHO comes into it's own.
It seems like my ski has been appointed the pulling vehicle of choise, by our group anyway. No problems to report on any of them.

If pulling is what you are concerned about, you might look at the HO even tho it might be a little more than 10k but then again you might find a deal.

Oh we pull a wake board no problem at all, but since wake boarding is all about the wake you might find the wake from a ski doesn't make it easy to get a lot of air.

Re: Which Yamaha??

Look into the Kawasaki 15F.
Just as reliable as the Yamaha but since the big Ultra came out 15Fs took a big hit in pricing.

Re: Which Yamaha??

I would go with the FX over a VX for towing that you are talking about for sure

Re: Which Yamaha??

Good thing about the 15F is that once you are done with the tow truck duty you can still have fun with it.
Unlike the big Yamahas, this Kawasaki can turn.
