Willamette River

It's spring and we're ready to ride. Anyone have experience with the Willamette River (Oregon) between Independence and Newburg this time of year? Is it deep and obstacle-free enough to ride through this section?

Re: Willamette River

Havent been that far. I am sure the depth is fine this time of year. Debris may be another thing. Usually, the snow melt brings more debris.
I have been as far as starting in Washougal dock and up through the Willamette into Multinomah Channel and out to Rocky Point. Nice Ride. There are bathroom and a docking place along the way. We stopped and ate a bite there.
Itchin to ride this year. Lilltle too early this year yet.
I would like to do some consistent riding this year with a group. Is there a local group that tours around?

I'm not aware of a group, but I live down near Salem. I see you posted an invitiation to riders in the Columbia/Willamette area; I'll see what info you gather!

Re: Willamette River

I am in the Wilsonville Area. Brand new RXT in the garage right now. Hoping the rain lets up enough for me to get out atleast a little today just to check it out.

If you guys want to meet up any time I am all for it. I would like to get an idea for the area above the falls since I can drop in right by I-5 like 3 minutes from my house.

Re: Willamette River

You might want to post in the Northwest section about this:
http://www.pwctoday.com/forumdisplay.php?f=76
Our Portland/Vancouver group usually rides out of Marine Park in Vancouver.

Portland area rides are usually covered here:

Re: Willamette River

could probably hit up google earth and look at the river that goes right through the center of Portland,Or

On a side note.. Got 2 hours on the new machine yesterday out there.

Water was pretty calm, but tons of debris especially the closer you go to the columbia.

I've been meaning to update my web site for a while and your comment motivated me to add some pictures. Here are links to maps and pictures of places we ride around the Pacific Northwest:
Map and Pix links
Nothing like riding 13 miles from a steaming volcano!

There are a lot of videos on the site of our group riding in the crazy, wild surf of the Pacific ocean.
