Very new to watersports help me find my pwc's

So let me just say i am very new to the water game but have been researching alot lately. I want to get two pwc's, one is for me and the other my girlfriend and other friends. I also am looking to buy used as i got around 10k cash to play with. I am a speed nut so mine has got to be fast. I was looking at the seadoo rxp and it seemed like a good choice till i read rider reviews and have since learned seadoo isnt exactly quality. Now i have got drawn towards the honda r-12x but im just worried it wont be fast enough. I plan on just riding on the lakes around phoenix,az and just having fun with them. So cliffnotes are
Looking to buy used have 10k cash
Need one to be fast and good handling
Reliability is a big concern

Re: Very new to watersports help me find my pwc's

I have owned five Seadoo's and had pretty good luck with them. The last two were the ONLY ONES I BOUGHT USED and they had some issues with them due to owner neglect. Nothing major just stuff like fuel gauges, info center etc.

Never had these problems on the original ones I owned. Buying a used watercraft can be a tricky situation if you don't know what to look for. There was a really good thread somewhere on "Buying a used jet-ski". Try the search button here or google it.

I don't know much about the RXP's go here and ask these guys.

Also regarding letting friends ride, you better get insurance cuz bad things can happen and you will be liable.

Good Luck

speed gets really boring really fast, unless youre easily amused.

at 25 yrs old, you should get a standup. air time is way more fun than speed.

also, buying a ski for your 'other friends' will prove itself to be a mistake. if they want to ride, let them buy their own skis. they should still be your friends afterwards. they might not be when they break your ski and refuse to pay for it.

If your not ready to spend some cash to get your seado fixed and the supercharger rebuilt alot, then dont get it. I have an RXP and you have to get the supercharger rebuilt every 100 hours which is BS. The R-12X isnt exactly fast though, its no where near as fast as an RXP.

How much to rebuid the charger? I can work on all my own stuff so i wasnt worried about little stuff like that. I guess i should have been more clear when i said friends. It will be my best friend of over 10 yrs will be the only other person riding. We made a deal he gets a boat and i get the pwc's.

Re: Very new to watersports help me find my pwc's

I'm a fan of yamaha so i'll put my 2 pennies into this thread
If you really want two ski's with a 10K limit and a bruiser ski for you.
i' might suggest a used 4 stroke yamaha fx cruiser for fxho for you 6-7K the ho will get you 60+mph , and a used 2 stroke for the ride buddies 2-3K 45-50mph.
the deal with the buddy is a good idea you get double the fun. but rather than 5K on each ski i'd lean towards one being an upgrade over the other, both will be fun.
1k left over for trailer and accessories.
just be careful when buying used ski to check it out carefully half the time people are selling used ski to raise cash the other half the time its because its been running sloppy.
watch craigslist for a pair for sale, my opinion is that if you buying two from an individual you might be more likely to get someone selling to raise cash vs engine issues.
do a water test before you buy
