Touring Speed for FX-HO

Had my 2004 FX-HO out at Cocoa Beach, FL. I was one to two miles offshore. Waves seemed average - some pretty good swells/rollers (would guess 5 to 6 feet), but no breaking waves. Seems like the fastest speed I could hold was 35 to 40 mph. Anything more and I would get airborne. Not that I could ride that way for a while, but certainly not all day.

So, do these sound like 'average' conditions for the atlantic side of FL? What about conditions further north (Virginia Beach area) would conditions be similar? What about the speed - is 35 to 40 mph considered a typical cruising speed?

Thats about right for that ski. It's also where you want to be at for fuel economy.
