'Round Cape Hatteras

Has anybody on the forum made the run from the Nag's Head area around Hatteras to Point Lookout, either north or south bound? With all due respect to "the graveyard of the Atlantic" it looks doable by jetski, but distance is of course the least predictable variable. Any tips from someone who's already done it? Thanks, Buckee

Re: 'Round Cape Hatteras

How would distance be the least predictable variable? I don't get that. If done in a group by experienced, knowledgeable and well-prepared riders on reliable prepped 'skis with the usual common-sense precautions taken, (and attention paid to the forecasted weather and conditions), what would prevent you from riding it?

Glad you posted this, Buckee! Take a look at the January issue of Personal Watercraft Illustrated, as we spent three days and over 200 miles aboard Kawasaki 250Xs exploring the Outer Banks of NC.

Fuel, yes, was an issue, but thanks to NC's boating community culture, was in easy access (especially with the aid of a local tour guide). It's scenic, the water conditions are various for one's personal enjoyment, and the food and lifestyle is incredible.

Re: 'Round Cape Hatteras

Rich - my late night typo - distance is of course the most predictable variable, way behind the ones Hatteras is famous for - wind, waves, & "what the heck is that?"

Kevin - - will check out the article, thanks. Check out our Chesapeake Bay trip on this thread under "Off & Running" - you guys would have loved it!

Anyway, 'round Hatteras may be the '08 trip for the Greenhead Navy.

That is one of the nicest areas that I have ever been to.
