Nice places to ride on the Gulf coast of FL??

I moved to Cape Coral about 1.5 years ago, my 8th year wedding anniversary is coming up September 22nd and want to go somewhere where I can take my two Waverunners along the west coast.

I've been riding in the Ft. Myers, Captiva, Sanibel island area, thats it. These areas are nice but want to get away to a nice place for 4 nights the week of my anniversary. I've read threads on Destin FL, seen pitures of the place and they certainly look spectacular and a beautiful place to ride but the down side for me is that is 8 hours away from my house.

Any ideas? Nice vacation spot to take 2 Wavarunners on the Gulf coast??

Destin was pretty cool...We rented some skis there and had a good time, theres a great place right at the bridge that we got to see a shark and loads of stingrays, I can't wait to go back now that I own a ski. clear water and not too far from pensacola.
I would recommend it (I'm about 8 hours away too)

St. Joe Beach, Florida. Ride across the bay to Cape San Blas which is a state park in which nobody can build on. Very close to paradise. You're guaranteed to see plenty of sharks/dolphins out there.

A little late but the Clearwater Beach area is great. Lots of places to put in and ride and Caladesi Island was voted the best beach in the US. Theres also Honeymoon Island, Dunedin Causeway, Anclotte Island, and a huge intercoastal area all within the Clearwater area and reachable by jetskis. All of this is only about two and a half or three hours north of you. Have fun.

I know this is an older post, but The Upper Keys are fantastic. I know, it is not the Gulf Coast, but it is close to you. You can also check out Chassahowitzka River too.

old post yes, but good topic either way
from the Cape
Rosen Park Launch up river to the Franklin Locks
Yacht Club thru Punta Rassa to the gulf/sanibel or Pine Island Sound
Lovers Key, for Bay Riding and Gulf Riding, easy access.
Lovers Key Resort is a nice place for a Weekender Boat/Ski family type thing.
We just did 4 days at LKR and took it out every day, it was Fantastic. And looking forward to skifest
