Cumberland River Ride

We just returned from a great trip up the Cumberland River. Our trip started at Buzzard Rock near the dam on Lake Barkley Kentucky. The first day we made it to Nashville Tennessee. Tied up at the Municipal Dock right down town at the river front. Had a geat dinner at Big River Restuarant. The next day we rode thru Old Hickory Lake and up-river to Cordell Hughs lake. The scenery was incredible. Lots of towering cliffs and beautiful farms. Sometimes we would travel 15 miles without seeing anyone else. We stayed at the Defeated Creek Marina for two days. People there were very friendly, good restuarant on the grounds. We tried to make it to the headwaters of the Cumberland, but due to a huge storm up-river there was too much debris in the water. We were about 50 miles short. The trip home was just as much fun. We had to lock thru 3 locks each way. The only issue was Cordell Hughs lock, as it is un-manned except by appointment 24 hours in advance. 704 miles on the odometer. I would definetly do this trip again.
