| Re: Columbia River/Willamette Valley Riders? Around the time of the last decent weekend of last summer 08, Me and my brother in law loaded up the waverunners and had my father in law drop us in the Columbia for the weekend. We packed the following: Colman Stove, Large cooler, Tents, Chairs, Food/Beverages, flashlights, a Black & Decker Power supply, Air mattresses, Cloths etc.. on two waverunners. We wrapped everything in plastic garbage bags and used a spider web bungee device to secure everything. We got in late friday evening and headed right towards Government Island cause it was close. We were going to camp there for a night and head up to Sand Island by St Helens, but decided to stay put. We got up in the mornings and rode into one of the local marinas and ate at a great little place. Played all day long and layed on the beach. The Island was perfect and the weather was superb. We cell phoned my father in law to pick us up Sunday evening. As soon as we pulled into the ramp area he was there and ready to get up out. That was a superb weekend.
I think another camping trip this summer is in order. Maybe a few. What would be great is to organize a camping trip out on the Columbia and a fantastic day trip with a ton of riders to tour the Multinomah Channel up through rocky point. It is awesome out there! |
