| 2008 VX cruiser Well, finally got the call today time to pick up my cruiser, I found this site a few days ago and as you can see this is my first post - I won't even pretend to be a seasoned rider, I'm just a guy that has tossed up Boat V PWC for over a year now, I'm keen to try to the rig for fishing as well - but if you could see where I live you will understand it is time to just get on the water and enjoy -
Anyhow could you let me know what distance I should expect to get from a 60l (not sure how many Gallons) tank and how much energy is drained during a day on the water.
I have been looking on the new google map at Moreton Bay here in Brisbane and there are hundreds of Islands and inlets to explore.
So, hows my choise of ski and any pitfalls I should know about before I sign on the dotted line |

| Re: 2008 VX cruiser Fantastic choice for your first 'ski, about the most fuel-efficient one out there, you will be able to explore those inlets and islands all day long on a tank; the Cruiser-style seats are one of Yamaha's best innovations for comfortable riding in any conditions for driver and passenger, and the reliability is pretty much bulletproof. (Just watch out for the mirrors or take them off, unless they have addressed that, I understand that on the VX series they easily break off around the docks.) In a year or two when you have learned the ropes of owning and riding a 'ski and it has developed into a life-consuming obsession and you want to ride in more varied and unpredictable conditions and with other riders, you will probably want to move up to a faster more powerful model, by that point you will be an expert in pwc riding and usage, and if you've taken good care of it in the meantime your 'ski will have probably retained a surprising portion of its value for resale.

| Re: 2008 VX cruiser The VX has a range of almost 80 miles. Even when run at WOT it sips the fuel. Not the most nimble ski but is a great ski for the whole family to enjoy. You'll really be surprised at how dry the ride is also. The ski is really great for a day of cruising without having to refuel. An Igloo 54 qt cooler fits on the tail easily. I find it tends to handle chop better at higher speed. The only down side is that it lands hard off of big swells but it really isn't designed for wave jumping. When you have the first oil change at 10 hours make sure too much oil isn't added. Seems to have been a common problem when the ski first came out. Remeber to take your mirrors off or the dock will. Enjoy your new ski.

| Re: 2008 VX cruiser That has got to be a vast understatement on the range! My FX HO gets an honest, easy 125 miles or more on a tank, a usual day's mix of cruising speeds, some WOT runs and some idling around. The VX has GOT to go even farther or at least the same distance, even if the gas tank is a little smaller. Sure the top speed is a good bit slower but it drinks gas a lot slower.

| Re: 2008 VX cruiser Yep I agree, evan at WOT the VX should cover around 110 miles on 60L of fuel.

| Re: 2008 VX cruiser I dont have the deluxe but do have the sport, Close enough I guess. :] Anyway I could not be happier with my ski, it is big and isn't as nimble as some of my freinds. But to be honest I wouldn't trade for anything, It is the perfect ski for the type of riding that I do. Reliabiliy is great, there has never been one time that I was left wondering if my ski is going to run correctly. It is a perfect ski for exploring and spending countless hours of worrie free time on the water. WS

| Re: 2008 VX cruiser Congrats on your new Ski seems like a perfect Ski to start on and to contiue to cruise everywhere on . Seems like the price of this Ski has become a bargain whereas some of the other manufactures are becoming to expensive and out of reach and towards the price of a nice Jet boat .

| Re: 2008 VX cruiser I have an 05 FXHO and a VX110 Deluxe (getting the cruiser seat this summer).
I havent had an issue with either boat. They handle great and as a second boat the VX is a workhorse. I agree with the above milage estimates. 120+ I have toured the Columbia River Gorge a few times. My dream is a long trip. I have been working on calculating milage and I am figuring 100 for refueling.
Great choice in a PWC. You'll love it! |

Great ski, very practical, using a Yamaha for fishing, we do a rod holder kit that fits on the back, made out of quality stainless steel, NO SCREWING REQUIRED, can be removed or fitted within 1 minute and comes complete with an Igloo 40 QT Ice Chest. This can be used for fishing or picnics!
It is called the "Ultimate Rod Holder" kit and is manufactured and distributed from New Zealand, by www.jetskifishing.co.nz
Hope you enjoy your ski and try the buzz of jet ski fishing! |
