Hey, I'm moving down to Carbondale to attend SIU in the fall(2010) I'm looking for people to ride with, boat with...whatever's good. I'm without a ski right now but im in the market as it were. Hit me up asap and let me know about the lakes near SIU. thanks!

Ian,

What do you ride? We hit up Lake Kinkaid in Murphysboro quite often...one of the best lakes in that area. MANY girls from SIU go there and party cove gets pretty wild during the summer. No horsepower limits on the lake so you see some pretty bad boats there.

We also ride standups there and on the Kaskaskia River over in Evansville. Sometimes do river runs on the sitdowns. I have a couple skis for sale..will shoot you an email.

Re: Southern Illinois Riders??

I ride stand-up(kawasaki) and am looking to buy one this year or next. I'll be moving down to Carbondale in August but im not too sure what my living situation will be yet. Party Cove sounds like a great time, count me in! Thanks for the quick reply though, I know nothing about the lakes down there but I want to ride ASAP.

Awesome...If you don't mind a bit more of a drive then you should join us at Kaskaskia River in Evansville Illinois right up route 3. We usually have 6-12 standups there every Sunday.

Re: Southern Illinois Riders??

Kinkaid was great, until they closed the spillway. Rend is alright, plenty of places to go down there. You will have a good time.

A buddy of mine is in STL and is looking to move out towards Evansville soon. I may be down there a bit this summer.

Closed the spillway...what you talking about? Spillway was still the same as it had always been the last time I was there this previous summer....They no longer allow alcohol in that area but thats the only change I am aware of.

Re: Southern Illinois Riders??

Thats sweet...I'd def be up for the drive I just need to get a ski first. If you know of anyone looking to sell an older SXR, send me their contact info....Or if someone has an extra ski that I can borrow for a few runs with you guys, that would be awesome. How long is the riding season down there?

Yes, banned alcohol.....this is what I meant. I guess I never really went during the summer, you're likely right. When the students were still in town, some weekends there would be 100's of people hanging out on the hill. As far as I have heard they don't go there as much since the alcohol ban. Could be wrong though, I have not been since the ban. I have not been down there really at all in a couple of years.

He is just looking for a short trip to the water.

Re: Southern Illinois Riders??

I left there spring 06 and the band drinking that summer. I hear that there are few that still go. Otherwise, Kinkaid is a great lake, warms up quick and stay warm til mid Oct. I have a few friends that are 85 grads and we're planning a trip there late summer.

Stekceed, I'd try to get a place off campus. The dorms are a mess. Lewis Park is a good time and close to Pinch and Copper.
