Pewaukee Lake, Wi

Has anyone rode Pewaukee Lake by Milwaukee? Thinking of going there soon, and was wanting a little insight on the lake. Where to launch, any cool beaches to hang out by ect. Thanks.

Re: Pewaukee Lake, Wi

I know a few guys who have ridden there, and I've heard bad things. Speed limit is enforced. I think it is 35 weekdays and 25 weekends, but don't quote me on that. It is also one of the lakes in waukesha county where the "repetitive course" law is enforced. In other words, you can't hang out in one spot and goof off on your ski, the cops expect you to make counter-clockwise laps around the lake like any other boat pulling a skiier.

I know there is a public launch on the west side of the lake, off hwy E.

If you live in racine, you're better off heading west on hwy 11 to Browns lake.

(disclaimer: The above is my opinion based upon what I've heard about pewaukee lake. I've never ridden pewaukee, but I've ridden browns a ton, and a buddy of mine has a place on browns - he gets minimal hassle from the cops, considering how busy it is there on the weekends.)

WOW!!! Your kidding. Thats nuts. I've been on Browns lake several times, it's kinda small. If you live in the area check out Silver Lake on Hwy 50, thats pretty cool. Thanks for your input

Re: Pewaukee Lake, Wi

silver lake is a pain with the cops there got a tkt one time without a warning because that conservation officer was giving us a hard time from way across the lake about being less then 200 ft from a buddy of mine. He said he was observing us for a while from way across the lake fing bs imo. Tkt cost me 110 bucks wouldnt give me a break or anything. Was being as cordial as can be and still was a freaking a-hole.

Re: Pewaukee Lake, Wi

Nemahbin would be ok. A little shallow on the southern lake (no subbing) but the northern lake is ok. Nice to know cops don't hang there much.

How do you get over the "spillway" on Nemahbin?

I've kayaked there but had to lift my boat over to go down the river. Never went all the way to crooked.

Re: Pewaukee Lake, Wi

My buddies and I lift the ski's over the spillway.....its really slippery but relatively easy.

after that there is a low hanging bridge that only a stand-up PWC can fit under

then crooked lake is pretty small so we usually keep going farther down the river...........we took it really far 2 years ago.
