Sport Mod keeps the 800cc limit

hey, just got an email from Scott fitz at ijsba and he let me know that they will be keeping the cc limit to 800cc. I know you crazy guys were polishing those 951's and 1200's but you got to draw the line some where.
Especially those of us who have sunk alot of money in motors that are still legal.

They do have that drag thing for those of you who can squish huge motors in sport boats

yeah, but now a bunch of us folks out there are gonna have to spend money on hulls, so whats the diff.?

IMO, I think if its gonna be mod, it should be open mod. I'm sure a few guys with carbon hx hull could manage to come up with a good runing 951 and drop it in for a little more than the price of rebuilding a grenaded mod 800 motor. Besides, there are already boats out there like that that would prolly show up if you gave them the chance.

80% of sport is the rider, the faster you make these things, the harder you fall and the farther you swim.

simple.you can run a stock hulled mod ski in 800 mod class and do quite well.

you will not fair so well with a 800 mod engine against a 1200 cc triple pipe engine.i am sure a 1200 cc hx could run 70 plus.

i paid 3,000 for my 785 hx ready to race. best race ski bargin i ever got.less than what i paid for the pipes on my stxr.

there are tons of 800 sea-doo and yamaha stuff out there on groups and on ebay.

you should be able to build a top notch sport ski for less than 10,000.way less if you search around for parts.

by spring i will have two 800 hx's completed for less than 10,000.how can you beat that?

i wish i could get back the money i dumped into the stxr. i could have both ski's fully tricked out, a trailer ,quad and eat lobster every night at the races.

800 mod rocks!!!!!

hey man, all I have is a carbon fiber hood. I really don't find the hulls worth the time or money. Maybe for the blaster because they can change the design but thats it.

Its all about riding skill and driveline. The pump and prop makes more difference than having a lighter hull.

ADRN-

Where are you from? You should come out to a Region 8 race this year if it is a feasable trip. We would love to have another ski on the line....

kawi66, you must have a C pump on there off a sportster jet boat. The Adjust-a-thrust is worht a mile an hour or 2 more top end on a boat like that, and better hookup in the chop.

I am from Nebraska where the sport class is nonexistant. I ussaully race 800 limited and acutally won once on a sport.

It was actually nice because I was up against Mike Morchowski who has the world record in slalom.

As far as the guys talking about the pump. I ran a Skat Trak Magnum set back 12 vein at worlds and it really slowed me down. I ran a stock pump all year but was worried about the chop.

I will definitly be getting a 6 vein this year. My new hull I believe is from region eight. Jef Curran hooked me up with his old HX with a checkered flag design around the footwell.

Ive been fondling a carbon hull but can't decide if it has that much benifits. Thailand was crazy fast at worlds as was New Zealand, and there was talk of light weight fiberglass hulls. Nothing came of it though.

What's youre thoughts on any of this. And yes I might hit a region 8 race this year. Great part of the country. If construction was good I wouldn't mind relocating. I run a small company doing finish trim carpentry.

ADREN-

The HX runs so good in chop that it woudl have to be an amazing advantage to go to the expense of a carbon hull. Plus, it is a lot easier to fix glass. And another thing, there is such a thing as beingtoo light. I have a lightweight Blaster hull and it carves much better than stock, but my brother's stock hull with hull mods (copies of mine) stays glued better, because it is heavier. I guess it really depends on the ski and rider. I could get a carbon hood for mine, but I don't want it to be any lighter.

We will have a huge turnout next year. We generally had 8-13 sport boats on the line at every race. And I know of two new guys who will be to at least a couple of races. I can't wait. I have my best friends and my brother involved in sport class now. Kind of hard to beat that.
