Shortened or Standard Length Pole for Bouys?

I am 5' 9" and ride an '02 SXi Pro with hull extensions and side sponsons and like to ride buoys. I need a new pole and can't decide if I should go with standard length or shortened -2"? Any input?

Re: Shortened or Standard Length Pole for Bouys?

If the normal sxi pole and pro hull are the same I would go -2. I always thought my pole was too long, however It depends on your weight too. The other thing is if you get the standard length you can get different turn plates and straight bars to shorten it up also

Yeah too bad it costs a fortune!

Does that one a use a Kawi or Yamaha steering sub/turn plate setup?

Re: Shortened or Standard Length Pole for Bouys?

Short pole for sure..
But on my SXR a RNSJ pole is way nicer but too short for me..kawi poles are UGLY and are made crappy!
96+ SJ's are way better design.
$$$ BUT....................................there is a price to pay for performance.!
Completely adjustable and yeah... BLING!!!!
Not too sure about Yami/ Kawi plates, I think you do need an aftermarket turnplate/bearings system.

Nothing costs a fortune at OptimaRacing.com! Not trying to jack this thread, but email me if you would like a price quote on an RRP setup. There is several different setups you can use with the RRP (some more expensive then others). The RRP, like most aftermarket poles uses a Yamaha style turnplate. Email me, I could possibly set you up with one for less then you think.

The adjustability is key. I will adjust mine depending on water conditions, how my back feels and how the ski is hooking up that day!

Re: Shortened or Standard Length Pole for Bouys?

go -2 or even -4. How much do you want to spend? If you want to keep costs low, the AC SXI Pole is my preference. It keeps the stock steering geometry, it's a easy bolt in compared to other H poles, and you really don't need to mess with the nozzle alignment much.

That being said.... You know how much of a biatch it's gonna be to remove that stock h pole crown right?
