Well, I like the fact that they gave the 4 strokes a seperate class. But does that mean a 4 stroke cannot compete in, for instance, Pro-AM Runabout Stock? That they must do so in Pro-Am Runabout 4 Stroke Limited?

What about Ski class? Are they not distinguishing between 2 and 4 strokes now because there is only one 4 stroke boat?

Steve,
There are no plans to remove 4 strokes from the two stroke classes. If the Four stroke classes grow to sufficient levels then perhaps a distinction will be in order. Until there are more four stroke skis, I dont think there is a reason to have a class for one manufacturer.
In my opinion, it would be best to eventually have seperate two and four stroke classes but I do not think we are there yet.

IMO,
In the state that this sport is in I believe that the classes need to be narrowed down DRASTICALLY!
We need to get back to full lines around the country.
I know plenty of people that quit because there was nobody on the lines.
You may have an event with 100 people total but onlyhave 3 people to race in your class.
We need to get back to full lines, heats, lcq's. It gets everyone more involved and gives them a feeling that the race is important again.
If you race agains lets say 6 people it doesnt give you much drive. Its very easy to not be interested anymore and bail. Ive seen it A LOT!

Europe is different, we just need to get there.
Just an Idea...Ski for inistance:

10-12 stock
13-15 stock

stock

LTD

MOD

VETS

Pro-Am Stock

Women LTD

PRO MOD

Just a quick list, just to get it out there.

This problem starts at the regional level and thats where we need to start fixing it, not the WORLD or the FINALS.
Europe doesnt seem to have a problem right now so leave them alone. Make different criteria for qualifying for the Finals. Make the Nationals the main race with the minimum select classes like above.

FXR,
We do have a problem here. The history has shown that when we cut these classes then we get less participation overall. The racers that are cut do not always find their way to the replacement classes. I am going to split the pro ski stock classes because consolidating them has creadted a problem: after your novice year(s) you either sandbag or get your butt handed to you by someone like: Mac, Flores, Sheldon, etc. There needs to be three ski stock classes.
I added 10-12 Ski Stock 750 as a compromise to parents who cannot afford to get their kid a new Hydrospace or SXR.
I am willing to work with the US affiliate to help them organize a feeder system. But the problem is that many US racers only race for the WF. I will work with the US affiliate to help develop a US program that will hopefully strengthen participation.

Scott,
Are there any discussions about trying to bring back a National Tour? Personally, I would have never even got involved with this sport if it wasn't for the Bud Tour coming to Huntington, WV in the early 90's. Its the perfect way to plant new "seeds" all over this country!

IMO that is too many classes... Pro Ski Stock, What about Pro/Am Stock there are way more am's in that class than there is pros plus it is one of the Largest...

How about this

Novice Stock
Expert Limited
Pro Open
This is for both Runabouts and Ski's It is simple and that is what we really need right now.

One more thing Cut the Vet Class out and lower the age of masters to 35... Then you could have Masters Open and Masters Stock...
